All-Time Series:Â Mercy Leads, 3-0
Last Meeting:Â October 31, 1988 - Mercy won, 4-0
Players to Watch (CSI):Â The Dolphins are being paced by the goal-scoring of Phiilip Lefkowitz, who leads the way with five goals and three assists, both team highs.Â
Jahmali Peterson, in three less games, has four markers and a helper, while both
Carlos Montesinos and
Lirim Gjonbalaj fall next in line with three goals apiece. Montesinos has 29 shots, second to Lefkowitz' 32. The back line of
Erick Conde,
Ryan Layman, Mohammadou Sow and
Wilson Quintero will be looking to put a stop to a ferocious Mercy attack today. Both
Christian Carucci and
Jake Foeldes have been sharing keeping duties. Foeldes has nine games under his belt, leading the way with a 1.66 goals against and 20 saves. Carucci, in five games, has a 2.29 goals against with a .636 save percentage.
Players to Watch (WU):  The Dolphins will look to keep Santiago Corral at bay, as he leads the Mavericks with seven goals, adding three assists through 11 games. Ignacio Mangada is next in line with five markers, and is tied with Gaston Rozenblum with a team-high six assists. Maximiliano Rebolledo-Camus has notched four goals this season on 24 shots.  Look for Aaron Denk-Gracia to try and keep CSI out of the box with his defense, along with the keeping of Joel Serrano and Jordan Williams. Serrano leads the way with nine starts, allowing just six goals (0.68 goals against) with 14 saves and a .700 save percentage. Williams has played in four games (two starts), and has a 0.80 goals against with an .818 save percentage.
News & Notes: Today marks the fourth meeting in history between the two sides, but the last meeting in the series was way back in 1988 so there is really no familiarity between the two sides. Mercy won all three previous meetings by a combined 14-2 count. This is actually the first time the schools are meeting at Mercy since 1979, a 7-0 Mavericks win. Mercy is ranked No. 11 nationally. They recently had a six-game win streak snapped, but since that loss have followed up with two-straight wins by a combined score of 10-0. Mercy has been out-scoring their opponents this season, 31-8, and have been stingy defensively, allowing just 78 shots through 11 games, just over seven per game.
What's Next?: CSI will be continuing their three-game road trip when they travel to face Baruch College at 5pm at Randall's Island on Wednesday, October 16. As for Mercy, they too will face off on Wednesday, hosting St. Thomas Aquinas College at 3 pm, in their last of a four-game home stand.
