GAMEDAY: WOMEN'S SOCCER VS MONTCLAIR ST., 7 PM

10/14/2019 11:00:00 AM

The Dolphins recently leveled their record to .500, taking a convincing win over Lehman College this weekend, and now they get right back to work with action on the road and under the lights as they face off against NJAC-power Montclair State University at 7 pm.

CSI VS. MONTCLAIR STATE UNIVERSITY AT-A-GLANCE
Matchup:
College of Staten Island (5-5) vs. Montclair State University (8-4-2)
Where: MSU Soccer Field - 1 Normal Avenue, Montclair, NJ
All-Time Series: MSU leads, 3-0
Last Meeting: October 8, 2018 - MSU won, 5-0
Players to Watch (CSI): CSI's Amber Mitchell joined teammates Mirsade Pelinkovic and Samantha LaValle as the leader in goals as they all have six apiece for the Dolphins.  Pelinkovic is the overall points leader as she has added four assists, tied for second on the team behind Lizbeth Aparicio's six.  With the absence of LaValle in CSI's last game, Nicole Mignone came in and recorded a pair of goals against Lehman, and now has three on the season.  Defensively look for Rebecca D'Aloia and Gabrielle Chirco to try and clog up the middle.  Samantha Beaudreault has been the leader in goal.  In nine starts she has 39 saves and a .672 save percentage.
Players to Watch (MSU):  MSU has a balanced attack, led by Tori Rolls, who leads the team with five goals and is tied for a team-best four assists.  The shots leader is Emily Beenders, who has 27 to go with four goals, while Emily DeGeyter has 21 shots, and a lone goal with four assists.  Samantha Senatore also has four goals on just 14 shots.  Look for Laura Noseworthy to try and quell the CSI attack.  She has rarely come off of the field on the back half of the field for the Red Hawks.  Four different players have played between the pipes with the majority of work going to Phoebe Bledsoe and Lindsay Freewall.  Freewall has made seven starts, and has a 1.06 goals against, making 32 saves with a save percentage of .800.  Bledsoe has made six starts with a 0.46 goals against, making 23 saves with a .885 save percentage.
News & Notes: There is not a lot of history between the two sides, but it has been overwhelmingly in favor of MSU, as they come in with a 3-0 all-time record against CSI, having outscored the Dolphins in the three matches, 14-1.  This is the second-straight year they are meeting at Montclair, with the Hawks having taken a 5-0 win last year.   MSU has been very good at home this year, boasting a 5-1 record against a 3-3-2 record on the road.  CSI is 2-3 on the road this season.  These two teams share two common opponents.  MSU tied with William Paterson, 2-2, while CSI fell to the Pioneers, 3-0.  Against Ramapo, CSI fell, 5-2, while MSU blazed through Ramapo this weekend, 8-0.
What's Next?: CSI will go on the road for a final time this season when they travel to face CUNYAC-rival Brooklyn College for a 12 Noon matinee showdown with the Bulldogs.  MSU, meanwhile, will stay put at home for a Wednesday meeting with NJAC-rivals The College of New Jersey, at 7 pm.
