GAMEDAY: MEN'S SOCCER VS. BROOKLYN, 4 PM

10/2/2019 10:00:00 AM

The College of Staten Island Men's Soccer team is riding a three-game unbeaten streak, and will look to continue to streak when they host Brooklyn College in their annual regular-season tilt at the CSI Soccer Complex with kick-off slated for 4 pm.  The Dolphins, whose CUNYAC record does not factor this season have defeated their two CUNYAC opponents thus far this season and so this will be a chance to extend that streak as well.

CSI VS. BROOKLYN COLLEGE AT-A-GLANCE
Matchup: College of Staten Island (3-3-1) vs. Brooklyn College (1-8)
Where: CSI Soccer Complex - 2800 Victory Boulevard, Staten Island, NY

Live Stats:  https://csidolphins.com/sidearmstats/msoc/summary
All-Time Series: Dolphins lead 20-9-1
Last Meeting:  October 3, 2018 - CSI won, 1-0
Players to Watch (CSI):  After scoring six goals through their first five games of the season, CSI has erupted for 12 goals over their last two games, and will look to continue the barrage today.  The Dolphins are being led by senior Philip Lefkowitz, who is ahead of the pack with four goals, also is tied for the team lead with a pair of assists, now owning the school record in that category over his career as well.  Jahmali Peterson is the reigning CUNYAC Rookie of the Week and is next in line with three goals, while Bryant Navarro, Joe Bolella, and Lirim Gjonbalaj each have a pair of goals this season.  Look for Erick Conde and Wilson Quintero to be patrolling the back line today along with Mohammedou SowJake Foeldes and Christian Carucci should mind the net.   Foeldes leads the way with 18 saves through six starts while Carucci leads CSI with an .889 save percentage in limited duty so far.
Players to Watch (BC):  The Bulldogs have scored just 10 goals through 9 games this season, but seven of them have come from two players.  The leader is former-Dolphin Alex Sosa, who jumped ship to Brooklyn and now leads the Bulldogs with four goals on a team-best 23 shots.  Next in line is Alex Zecena, who has three goals on 13 shots.  Stewart Bailon and Bokkar Ka have also been around the net often this season offensively and both have a single goal.  Defensively, it will be up to Lorenzo Davies to try and keep CSI off the scoreboard.  Davies has played every minute in net for Brooklyn, registering 52 saves and a respectable .684 save percentage.
News & Notes: The Dolphins have had a good recent run over Brooklyn but the teams have split the last two meetings, both played at Brooklyn.  In 2017, BC took a 2-1 win over CSI, while CSI defeated BC, 1-0, a year ago.  Prior to that CSI had gone 4-0-1 in the previous five meetings against BC.  Ten of the last 12 meetings between the two sides have been decided by one goal or less (tie).  CSI has won the last three games played on Staten Island.  Brooklyn's last win in the series on Staten Island was back on October 17, 2012, a 1-0 win.
What's Next?: After this matchup against the Bulldogs, CSI will head back to Randall's Island to take on CUNYAC-rivals Hunter College at 12 Noon on Saturday.  As for Brooklyn, they will also be back at it on Saturday, as they will entertain Lehman College on their home field at 12 Noon.
