All-Time Series: FDU-Florham leads 8-0
Players to Watch (CSI): The Dolphins got big weeks from their two leading goal-scorers
Samantha LaValle and
Mirsade Pelinkovic with each of them scoring a pair over the Dolphins last two games. That included a multi-score game from Pelinkovic against York on Wednesday when she netted back-to-back goals late in the second half. In that same game, LaValle scored an early equalizer in the first half as well with her second of the week coming against Queens on Saturday, a goal which cut the Knights lead in half to make it 2-1.
Amber Mitchell has been a major factor on the attack for the Dolphins as well and she holds a share of second on the team in scoring alongside Pelinkovic with four goals. The Dolphins have also continued to get big contributions from their seniors in 2019 as
Lizbeth Aparicio has a team-leading six assists,
Rita Henriquez has capitalized on her recent playing time with a goal and two assists, and
Rebecca D'Aloia remains key to the Dolphins defensive consistency through their first seven contests.
Players to Watch (FDU): The Devils boast a very high-scoring attack and already have four players who have registered at least five goals through their first 10 matches. Erika Pita leads the pack with 8. Close behind are Amande Croche, Madeline Finnegan, and Tatiana Nieto tallying 7, 6, and 5 goals respectively. Nieto has also dished out a team-leading 10 assists as well helped in large part by a Devils team that already has had twelve different players find the back of the net so far in 2019. Defensively, Madison Rosa has logged 741 minutes so far this season, good for second among non-goalkeepers. However, this pales in comparison to senior backer Dari Lyons' 868 minutes which leads the team. In goal, Ashley Paulino has played all but just over 100 minutes getting the start in all ten games for FDU. In 796 minutes across those ten contests, she has allowed less than a goal per game and carries an 84% save percentage into tonight's meeting with the Dolphins.
News & Notes: These two teams have met eight times in the history of the two programs beginning in 2004 when the Devils defeated the Dolphins 9-0. Through the first five matchups between the two sides spanning from 2004 through 2010, the Dolphins failed to get into the goal column and were outscored 25-0. However, after the two teams did not meet for five seasons between 2011 and 2015, the Dolphins scored against the Devils for the first time in 2016, a 2-1 defeat. The two meetings since have seen FDU pick up a 5-3 victory in 2017 and a 2-1 win in 2018 leaving the Dolphins in search of their first win against the Devils in program history.
What's Next?: After tonight's contest, CSI will play their third straight game away from home as they face the Beavers of CCNY in a game that will be played at Purchase College this Saturday at 4:00 PM.
