GAMEDAY: MEN'S SOCCER VS HUNTER, 12 PM

10/5/2019 8:00:00 AM

The College of Staten Island Men's Soccer team extended their winning streak to three this past Wednesday on SDS Night at the CSI Soccer Complex and will look to make it four against Hunter at Randall's Island today at noon.  The 4-3-1 Dolphins will look to continue their run of success against CUNYAC opponents during the regular season while the 2-6-1 Hawks are looking to bounce back from a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Lehman College in their last game.

CSI VS. HUNTER AT-A-GLANCE
Matchup: College of Staten Island (4-3-1) vs. Hunter College (2-6-1)
Where: Randall's Island - New York, NY
All-Time Series: Dolphins lead 19-18-4
Last Meeting:  October 6, 2018 - CSI won, 3-0
Players to Watch (CSI):  The Dolphins were on a scoring tear that slowed down just a bit in their most recent match against Brooklyn, a 2-0 victory that earned CSI their third straight win.  Through the current winning streak, the Dolphins have scored 14 goals including three by reigning CUNYAC Rookie of the Week Jahmali Peterson and two by Bryant Navarro, Lirim Gjonbalaj and Philip Lefkowitz, the team's leading goal-scorer.  Rounding out last year's top three scorers along with Navarro and Lefkowitz was Joe Bolella who also added a goal in CSI's second consecutive win one week ago.  In net, Jake Foeldes (2-3) has seen his goals allowed average dip under 2.00 in nearly 570 minutes played while Christian Carucci (2-0) earned his second win of the season in the match against Brooklyn on Wednesday after coming on in relief of Foeldes at halftime.
Players to Watch (HC):  The Hawks have a pair of five-goal scorers that have led the way on the attack so far this season in Jesus Patino Muniz and Blaise Enama.  Not only has Patino Muniz served as one of his team's best finishers, but he also had tallied a team-leading four assists as well.  Only one other Hawk has registered both a goal and an assist in 2019 and that is Regis Enama who has one of each.  Scoring only 1.75 goals per game, the Hawks have asked a lot of goalkeepers Antony Simos and Noah Dougherty to keep them within striking distance in their nine matches.  Simos has saved 68.8 % of the shots he's faced allowing 2.51 goals per game in 358 minutes while Dougherty has saved 57.4% and allowed 4.50 goals per game in 380 minutes.
News & Notes: The Dolphins lead the all-time series by a single game, 19-18, with the two sides having tied on four separate occasions.  CSI has also won the last three meetings with the Hawks from 2016 through 2018 following a three-match winless streak that lasted from 2013 through 2015.  As has been the case with all of their CUNYAC opponents this year, this 2019 matchup between CSI and Hunter could very well be the last with CSI transitioning into NCAA Division II which includes membership in the East Coast Conference.
What's Next?: After this matchup against the Hawks, the Dolphins will face the last of five consecutive CUNYAC opponents at home this Monday when they take on the Lehman College Lightning at the CSI Soccer Complex at 4:00 PM.
