Box Score New York, NY | The College of Staten Island Men's Soccer team kept their winning streak going today as they made it four victories in a row over CUNYAC opponents defeating Hunter College by a final score of 5-1. The Dolphins, now 5-3-1 after the win, scored twice in the first three minutes to set the tone for the game early and the Hawks never recovered dropping to 2-7-1 with the loss.
Just over thirty seconds into the game, CSI struck first when
Jahmali Peterson capped off another strong week with his fourth goal of the season to make it 1-0. Less than two minutes later,
Carlos Montesinos added another, his second of the season, to make it 2-0 which would be all the scoring that the Dolphins would need. However, they weren't done yet as they capped off the first half with a
Philip Lefkowitz score, his fifth, to extend the lead to three.
Having outshot the Hawks 9-1 in their three-goal first half, the Dolphins wasted no time getting on the scoreboard again in the second half. This time it was
Wilson Quintero who found the back of the net for the first time this season in the 48' to put CSI ahead 4-0. The Hawks did finally come up with an answer to this Dolphins goal and did so very quickly as Blaise Enama brought his team back within three less than two minutes later.
Following Hunter's goal, the scoring slowed across the last forty minutes and the the game's only other goal belonged to CSI. It was
Patrick Longo who made it two Dolphins that registered their first of the season in the game when he put CSI up 5-1 in the 86'. That score would hold the rest of the way as the Dolphins cruised to a four-goal victory.
The Dolphins advantage on the scoreboard was reflected in their overall shot advantage in the game, 14-4. They also got contributions from their three leading scorers in the first half to put some early distance between them and Hunter as Peterson, Montesinos and Lefkowitz all tallied another goal. With Quintero and Longo getting in the goal column for the first time a total of eleven Dolphins have now registered a goal this season.
Four out of five consecutive games against CUNYAC opponents are now in the books for the Dolphins and they will be looking to make it a perfect five-for-five on Monday when they face Lehman College at the CSI Soccer Complex. The first 100 fans in attendance will receive a Dolphins scarf with kickoff scheduled for 4 PM.
