Players to Watch (CSI): Coming off of his career-high 33 points on a night where he scored his 1000th career point against New York Tech, Adeola Latunji did not disappoint with his follow-up performance against Johnson & Wales. Latunji added another 20 points in that game and continues to lead the Dolphins in scoring with nearly 22 per game on over 50% shooting. Rigaus Destime also put on a show in the Dolphins last game against the Wildcats connecting on six of his ten three-pointers and scoring another 20 points in the CSI win. Austin Mick, who added three makes from long-range in that game, along with Andrew Kartalis and Joseph Zieris, have all hit at least 34% of their attempts from beyond the arc while averaging at least 7 points per game. Mick has also been the team's leading facilitator as he has dished out just shy of 4.5 assists per game. Mick, Kartalis, and Zieris have all averaged at least 3.4 rebounds per game as well, but they all trail Latunji in that department as he has grabbed a team-leading 5.2 boards per game.
Players to Watch (STAC): Sekou Cisse has been a force both scoring the ball and on the glass for the Spartans as he has scored a team-high 16.7 points per game to go along with 8.1 rebounds. He has also shot an impressive 60% from the field and leads the team in those major categories while only getting the start in two of the Spartans seven games. Demetre Roberts is right behind Cisse for the team lead in points with 16 on 45% shooting while Osbel Caraballo rounds the Spartans' top-three scorers with 13.6 points per game on 45% from the field. Caraballa has also been a major factor on the glass as well as he has pulled down 7.1 rebounds per game.
News & Notes: The only meeting between these two teams took place in 1979 when the Dolphins picked up the 87-82 victory. CSI will be looking to get back to the .500 mark with a win today while also remaining perfect on their home floor as they take a 2-0 record at The Tank into today's game. The Spartans are a perfect 4-0 on the road this year and owned an undefeated 6-0 overall record until Dominican handed them their first loss of the season on Monday. CSI and St. Thomas Aquinas share a home in the East Coast Conference where the Spartans were among the top two teams every year from 2014 through 2018. They played in the conference championship game all five of those seasons winning the title each year from 2016 to 2018.
What's Next?: The Dolphins wrap up a four-game homestand with their first game against a CUNYAC opponent on Tuesday when they will face the Beavers of CCNY. That game will be part of a men's and women's basketball doubleheader and will tip-off at approximately 7:30. The Spartans will remain on the road in their next game which will be played on Thursday against ECC member Mercy College at 7 PM.
