STATEN ISLAND, NY – On Wednesday afternoon, the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced its 2025-26 Academic Awards, recognizing programs and student-athletes that achieved excellence in the classroom. The College of Staten Island Men's Basketball program and Mitchell Wiggan were both recognized for their academic accomplishments during the previous academic year.
The NABC Team Academic Excellence Award honors programs that complete the academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The NABC Honors Court recognizes junior, senior, and graduate student-athletes who maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.
The Dolphins men's basketball program earned Team Academic Excellence Award recognition after posting a 3.104 cumulative GPA during the 2025-26 academic year. Wiggan, who made a significant impact as a key contributor off the bench this season, led the team academically with a 3.502 cumulative GPA to earn a spot on the NABC Honors Court.
Wiggan ended the year with 11.6 ppg & 5.2 reb/g while shooting 47% from the field
