All-Time Series: CSI leads, 4-0
Last Meeting: December 23, 1983 - CSI won, 58-51
Players to Watch (CSI): The Dolphins continued to see an uptick in their team shooting percentage despite dropping their last game against the Cougars. In the 50% shooting effort, Adeola Latunji, the reigning CUNYAC Player fo the Week, led the way with 29 points and 14 rebounds on an efficient 14-21 from the floor. Austin Mick also shot the ball well hitting five of his eight shots including three of six three-pointers. Joseph Zieris added another 14 points for CSI on 7-15 and pulled down eleven boards second only to Latunji. The double-double for Latunji was his third of the season and for Zieris it was his first. Though he only scored 8 last Friday, Andrew Kartalis maintained his 40% mark from the field and has connected on 38% of his attempts from long-range.
Players to Watch (PU): The Setters are led in scoring by Peyton Wejnert who is averaging just shy of 24 points per game on 56.4% shooting to go along with a team-leading 9.2 rebounds per contest. Brandon Jacobs has added another 15.2 per game on 44% from the floor and 48% from beyond the arc. He has also dished out a team-high 8 assists per game. Christian Adams completes the list of players averaging double-figures for Pace with his 10.4 points per game. Austin Gilbertson and Ray Montilus round out the regular starting five for the Setters with Gilbertson fourth on the team in scoring at 8.6 per game and Montlius providing the team with a defensive stopper that easily leads Pace with 29 steals in only 27 minutes per game.
News & Notes: The Dolphins and Setters last met in December of 1983 when the Dolphins took the 58-51 victory. That win by CSI gave them a perfect 4-0 record against Pace that they will be looking to maintain coming out of today's matchup. As CSI has continued to see the team shooting percentage steadily rise, they have reached the 43% mark on the season. However, that still falls short of the Setters' 45.6%. The two teams share one common opponent this year in New York Tech with the Dolphins facing the Bears on November 20th and the Setters facing them on December 2nd. It was a convincing win for the Dolphins in their matchup as they took the win 82-63 while Pace narrowly escaped Old Westbury with the victory, 68-65. That win over New York Tech was the ninth in a row by Pace to open the season as they began the week with an unbeaten 9-0 record. Since Tuesday, they have dropped their last two games and will be looking to get back in the win column against a CSI team that is 1-4 against Division II competition.
What's Next?: Pace will face another opponent that CSI has faced when they host Southern New Hampshire University next Saturday. As for the Dolphins, they will next be in action at home later this month when they host the annual Tournament of Heroes beginning Friday, December 27th with a matchup against Curry College.
