All-Time Series: CSI leads, 17-1
Last Meeting: January 26, 2019 - CSI won, 79-58
Players to Watch (CSI): The Dolphins got their best offensive effort of the season in their previous game against CCNY on Tuesday as they had five players score double-digits in the 96-51 victory. Jada Rogers continues to impress in her freshman campaign as she registered 17 in the matchup against the Beavers. Diedre Foster had 13, Kristina Arvelo had 10, and Diana Todaro added 15. Leading the team in scoring was Tori Moylan with 18 as CSI cruised to the win in the second half of that last game. Perhaps more encouraging is that CSI was able to put together a prolific offensive effort despite a combined 5-24 shooting performance for Megan McEwan and Kayla Schmitter. However, that duo has been key to the Dolphins' success in the last season plus and they will be looking to get back on track shooting the ball tonight.
Players to Watch (MEC): The Cougars are led in scoring by Shae-quana Brathwaite who has scored 20 per game to put her among the leaders in the CUNYAC conference. She has also been very efficient from the field shooting 48.3% on the season and has connected on five of her seven threes as well. However, she has only played in two of the three games for the Cougars getting the start in one of those. Samsara Paul is the Cougar that has started all three games and she ranks third on the team in scoring with 8.3 per game. Just ahead of her in the points department is Destiny Simmons with 8.7, but neither player has shot the ball particularly well with Paul shooting 27.8% and Simmons shooting 30%. Vanessa Zambrano has been the biggest presence on the glass for the Cougars with 7 rebounds per game and Jane Lanier has added another 6 boards per game as well.
News & Notes: The Dolphins officially lead the all-time series 17-1 with a forfeit being their only loss against Medgar Evers. Many of those eighteen games have not been close with the Dolphins winning by no less than 18 points. The Dolphins improved their overall shooting numbers with their win over CCNY, but they are still at only 34% on the season. The Cougars are just shy of 35%, but have allowed opponents to shoot 43% while CSI's opponents have connected on 40.6% of their shot attempts. In the most recent matchup between the two sides last season, the Beavers struggled mightily from the floor shooting only 27.3%. The Dolphins hope to see their hot shooting carry over from their last game while the Cougars will be looking to bounce back from a big loss against Hunter College on Tuesday night when they allowed 93 points. That total was the most they have allowed in a game since November of last season while the 96 scored by CSI on Tuesday is the most they have scored since the regular-season finale in the 2017-2018 season.
What's Next?: CSI will return home on December 11 for a matchup with Molloy College in what will be the first meeting between the two sides since 1985. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 PM.
