Last Meeting:Â September 26, 2018 - CSI won, 5-0
Players to Watch (CSI):Â CSI is being paced by senior
Philip Lefkowitz, who has a team-best two goals on 14 shots thus far. Freshman
Jahmali Peterson played in his first game last week and registered the game-tying assist against STAC, helping grab CSI out of the loss column.Â
Jake Foeldes has been the stopper in net so far this season. He has played 389:42 in goal, registering 15 saves overall with a .556 save percentage. Dolphins have been getting great defensive minutes from
Daniel Angulo, Alexis Moran-Navarro and
Mohammedou Sow and the new faces will look to continue to steady CSI against MEC today.
Players to Watch (MEC): The Cougars have five goals this season on five different goal scorers. The leader is Adeyemi Adeniyi, who has his lone goal on a team-best 11 shots. Abdul Edwards is next in line with seven shots taken, while Abdul Conteh, Jonathan Sawadogo and Hassane Niampa each have a tally on two total shots.    Papa Samb and Ibrahima Beye will look to keep the Dolphins attack in check, rarely coming off of the pitch. Carl-Henry Obeissant has had the largest time in net, boasting a great .844 save percentage, making 27 saves through three starts.
News & Notes: Today is the 43rd meeting between these two sides, as they have been meeting since the 1977 season. The Dolphins own a 27-14-1 overall record against the Cougars and own a 9-game win streak over MEC coming in to this one, the longest win streak by either team in the series. CSI has posted five straight shutouts over MEC, and haven't allowed an MEC goal in 520 minutes against them. CSI is 15-8-1 at home against the Cougars and MEC has not beaten CSI on Staten Island since the 2010 season, a 6-1 win. MEC is 0-2 this season on the road, and are coming off of a 4-0 loss to NJCU in their last game on Saturday.
What's Next?: After today's game CSI will stay in the CUNYAC and take on York College at Randall's Island on Saturday for a 2 pm matinee against the Cardinals. MEC will also be in action on Saturday, playing against defending CUNYAC-champs Baruch College at Aviator Field at 7 pm.
