GAMEDAY: MEN'S BASKETBALL @ YORK, 7:30 PM

1/6/2020 1:30:00 PM

The College of Staten Island Men's Basketball will be looking to bounce back from Saturday's loss to John Jay College when they face their second consecutive CUNYAC opponent tonight at York College.  The two teams enter the matchup with identical 4-8 records, but the Cardinals come in having won their previous game against Hunter College while the Dolphins are looking to avoid their third straight loss.

CSI @ YORK COLLEGE AT-A-GLANCE
Matchup: College of Staten Island (4-8) vs. York College (4-8)
Where:  York College Gymnasium - Jamaica, NY
Live Video: https://www.youtube.com/user/yorkathletics
All-Time Series: CSI leads, 67-24
Last Meeting:  January 29, 2019 - York won, 69-64
Players to Watch (CSI):  The Dolphins continue to be led in scoring by Adeola Latunji who is averaging 21.5 points per game to go along with a team-leading 6.8 rebounds per contest.  His 51.5% shooting is also best on the squad, but both Andrew Kartalis and Joseph Zieris have shot the ball efficiently as well.  Kartalis' 43.4% shooting is good for third on the team while his 9.4 points per game is good for second.  Third in scoring is Zieris with 9.3 per game on 49.4% from the field, second to only Latunnji.  Rigaud Destime is the last of four Dolphins averaging at least nine points on the season.  He has split time running the point with Austin Mick who has scored 7.5 per game and dished out a team-high 41 assists.
Players to Watch (YC):  The Cardinals have a pair of players averaging over 16 points per game in Donald Hartley Jr. and Devine Chisolm.  For Chisolm, his 16 points per contest has been combined with 41.8% shooting from the floor and 38.5% shooting from beyond the arc.  However, the team's third-leading scorer Jay Bookhart has knocked down 49.2% of his shots and 46.5% of his 43 three-point attempts while scoring 13.7 per game.  Rounding out the group of scorers over 10 points per game for the Cardinals is Mambe Koureissi with 11.8 per game on 47.6% shooting.  These four double-digit scorers are joined in the starting lineup by Akil Vaughn who is also connecting on an extremely efficient 47.1% of his attempts while scoring 9.1 per game.
News & Notes:  Prior to their last meeting in January of last year, the Dolphins had won seven straight meetings with the Cardinals.  The 69-64 victory for York in the last matchup was their first against CSI since February of 2015.  However, both teams look very different from last season as the Dolphins are without Christian Taylor and Chamald Martin this year while the Cardinals' top three scorers from their win against CSI are no longer with the team.  Both teams come in shooting the ball well through twelve games as CSI has shot an even 42% while the Cardinals have hit nearly 45% of their shots.  It has been a different story from downtown and on the glass as the Cardinals hold the advantage in both of those categories, 38% to 31%, and a +1.9 rebounding margin to a -11.9 rebounding margin for the Dolphins.
What's Next?:  The Dolphins wrap up a three-game stretch of road games on Wednesday when they visit Hunter College for a meeting with the Hawks.  Tip-off is scheduled for 7 PM.
