News & Notes: Tonight renews a rich rivalry between the Dolphins and Hawks, one that dates back to 1981. Hunter owns a slim, 39-35, advantage in the all-time series, and swept the Dolphins last year, including a 9-point win at Hunter in their last matchup on February 5 of last year. Prior to that, momentum clearly belonged to the Dolphins, who had taken 9 games in a row against the Hawks, having not lost a game to them in over five years. It has been a series that has benefited the home team through the years. Hunter owns a 22-12 all-time record over CSI, while CSI has enjoyed an 18-12 advantage all-time over the Hawks when they tip in Staten Island. The teams have shared three common opponents so far this season, which both sides beating Medgar Evers and York College. Against Mt. St. Mary, CSI scored an impressive, 74-60, win, while Hunter fell to the Blue Knights, 72-63. Hunter is 4-3 at home this season, and had won two in a row before being knocked off-balance by Brooklyn College on Monday, 67-63. For CSI, they have shaken off a rough, 0-6, start, to win five of their last six games, and have reeled off three-straight wins, obviously their longest win streak of the season.
What's Next?: The string of CUNYAC games continues as CSI will return home for the first time since December 14, when they face Brooklyn College on Saturday, January 11, at 1 PM. As for Hunter, they will travel to face Lehman College on Friday for a 5 PM tip with the Lightning.
