The College of Staten Island Esports team swept the day today, defeating Old Westbury this evening, 3-0, to win their second match of the day to improve to 6-0 overall, clinching a playoff berth with still two weeks remaining in the regular season. CSI can finish no lower than fourth in the ECC standings, while Old Westbury fell to 1-4.
In the find map of Busan, CSI was terrific in the match of control winning the control point 100-0, before taking the second point 100-15 to sweep the point, led by Player of the Game honors going to
Hadi Daoud who sported a Kill Streak of 21, while
Elizabeth Garrison posted 28 assists and
Shane Drucker added 14 High Energy Kills.
CSI was equally up to task in Hanamura as part of Assault. As the attacking side first, they scored a quick two points, successfully taking points A and B. In return, Old Westbury failed to score a point when CSI was defending the same points, giving CSI the convincing, 2-0, advantage. Again, Daoud was terrific, with a Kill Streak of 24, while Garrison struck up 33 Assists. Andrew Schnoda posted five Amplification Matrix Assists as well.
CSI finished things off with a flawless victory in Hybrid on the Eichenwalde map. CSI went on the attack first posting three points in a hair under five minutes. In that same time, Old Westbury could not duplicate the same response, giving the Dolphins the victory in just three matches, 3-0. Playing as Doomfist, Daoud again won Player of the Game.
At 6-0, CSI remained the ECC's only undefeated team, and since the lowest they can post is a 6-2 record, they have earned a trip to the ECC Playoffs in three weeks, which features four teams in a single-elimination playoff. Until then, CSI will play the first of their two remaining games in Overwatch against defending ECC-Champion Southern New Hampshire University, next Friday, at 7pm.
