About Valorant:  Valorant is a relatively new first-person shooter where teams work in groups of five as either attackers or defenders in a series of rounds.  Rounds are two minutes long and each round has a winner that scores a point.  Points are scored by attacking teams if they eliminate the five defenders or they successfully plant a spike (bomb) in a specific location and it explodes by the time the round is over.  Defending teams win the round's point if they eliminate all five attackers before the spike is planted or if they successfully diffuse or prevent the spike from exploding by the time the timer ends.  The team that successfully scores 13 points wins 1 overall game, and in order to win an entire match, a team must win two out of three games.  Players choose one of 12 agents to play with before a round begins each with their own specialties, and after each point in a round, players get to spend economy credits boosting their character in categories like weaponry and armor. Teams take turns being attackers and defenders 12 rounds at a time.
News & Notes:  CSI clinched a playoff berth this past Friday when they defeated Southern New Hampshire, 2-1, lifting them to 6-0 on the season, and on the brink of an ECC Regular Season Championship and the No. 1 seed in th playoffs which begins in a couple of weeks.  CSI can capture the title and the top spot with a win in either one if their two remaining matches, either tonight or next week against Daemen (0-7).  SJC-LI, coming off of a loss to Farmingdale State this past week, can finish anywhere from first place to actually missing the playoffs.  A win and they clinch the playoffs and an opportunity to win the Regular Season if CSI and other teams lose next week and they beat Mercy next week.  If they get a split of those matches they secure at least a playoff berth, but if they lose against CSI and Mercy next week, they will need help from other teams to even make the playoffs, so tonight is a very big matchup for the Golden Eagles.  After CSI, four other teams are in contention for three other playoff spots in total.
What's Next?:  CSI will get back to action on Wednesday, November 4, in their season finale against Daemen College, which is winless at 0-7 and are on a bye this week.  If CSi does not win tonight, they can still clinch the No. 1 seed and the Regular Season Championship with a win next week.  In other Valorant games this week, NYIT (5-2) has a showdown with Southern New Hampshire (5-2) in a marquee battle.  The winner gets a playoff spot while the loser stays in contention but will need help to make the playoffs.  The other team battling for the playoffs is Farmingdale State (4-2), and they take on Hood (2-4) to help their cause.  Molloy College (2-4) takes on Mercy College (1-5) as well.
