The College of Staten Island Esports stayed red-hot to start the 2020 season, remaining undefeated after a 2-0 win over Farmingdale State College this evening in the game of Valorant. CSI won the opening map of Bind by a score of 13-4, before taking a 13-3 win on the Haven map to wrap things up. CSI lifted their record to 3-0, while Farmingdale fell to 1-2.
In the opening map of Bind, a map familiar to CSI, the Dolphins started out on the attack. Looking to build their economy, CSI was a bit sluggish out of the gate, dropping two of the first three matches. But that changed once CSI started to upgrade their guns, and they would rally off nine-straight wins in the round to finish up the attacking half of play with a 10-2 advantage.
Kyle Tordecilla was deadly accurate with his targets and
Stephen DeVito was also on point racking up the kills, with Ryan Lu sporting a great KD ratio as well. CSI again dropped the first two rounds when they were on defense, seeing their lead shrink to 10-4, but another three straight wins finished the opening game 13-4 in CSI's favor.
Tordecilla was also exceptional tonight on the second map of Haven, as CSI defended first this time around. This time CSI was great from the beginning, with Tordecilla's "Kiko" amassing a litany of kills and scoring an Ace on his own (all five opponent kills) in the eighth round, at the time giving CSI an 8-0 lead. CSI would go on to win the attacking half, 10-2, again putting them well on their way to victory. After dropping a point on attack, CSI was successful in eliminating the enemy from there and took the 13-3 overall win.
For CSI, they now remain the ECC"s only undefeated team in Valorant. They will pick up play again in Valorant next week, when they take on Hood College in a 7pm affair on Wednesday, October 14.
