Players to Watch (CSI): The Dolphins offense got another solid performance from
Adeola Latunji on Tuesday as he scored 23 points on 9-17 shooting against the Beavers. Similarly,
Joseph Zieris also had a standout performance with a 13 point, 11 rebound double-double. In what was undoubtedly his best game since returning to the lineup from injury,
Andrew Kartalis added 18 points off the bench on 6-11 from the floor.
Austin Mick, who only attempted four shots in the game, had 8 points, and
Rigaud Destime also got the start and had 4 points. Despite getting the start,
James Delahanty only played three minutes following what was his best effort of the season against John Jay last weekend.
Players to Watch (MEC): The Cougars roster looks a bit different than the one that faced CSI earlier this season as they are now led in scoring by Keison McIntosh's 13.7 points per game. Right behind him is Devin Berrios who has averaged 12.8, and both Jafet Thomas and Mousa Sinera are above the 11-point mark as well. Sinera is also the team leader in rebounding by a wide margin with 11.7 per game as he is averaging a double-double for the Cougars. Along with Thomas who is shooting a team-best 57.1% from the field, Sinera is also hitting an incredibly efficient 51.8% of his shots. From beyond the arc, Naquavah Jackson has connected on 41.8% of his attempts to lead the team and Marcus Lewis has been the primary facilitator in the Cougars offense with a team-high 107 assists through nineteen games.
News & Notes: The Dolphins have had tremendous success against the Cougars historically winning 68 of 88 matchups with Medgar Evers. However, recent history has been far less kind to CSI as they have split the last four games with the Cougars. This includes a loss earlier this season in the last meeting between the two sides which the Cougars won 87-83. The Cougars also picked up a win against the Dolphins in the 2017-2018 season by a score of 83-77. The Dolphins will be looking to avoid suffering a second season-series sweep at the hands of a CUNYAC opponent this year as they recently lost the second of two games against John Jay. They will also be trying to avoid losing four straight games for the first time since their first four games of the season. In the previous game between CSI and Medgar Evers earlier this season, the Dolphins outshot the Cougars 50% to 43.8% from the field, but they were outscored off of turnovers 24-17 as giveaways late in the game ultimately proved costly for the Dolphins.
What's Next?: Next on the schedule for CSI is a matchup at home against York on Tuesday Night. It will be Pride Night at The Tank and that game will be part of a Men's and Women's Basketball doubleheader with the women tipping off at 5:30 before the men face the Cardinals at 7:30.
