Players to Watch (CSI): Adeola Latunji's 29 points against the Cougars on Saturday was just enough to help the Dolphins escape with the 96-95 victory. It also marked the seventh time this season that he has scored at least 27 points as he is averaging just over 21 per game on the season on 48.5% shooting. That shooting percentage is second on the team among players with at least 50 shot attempts behind only Jospeh Zieris who has scored 10.9 per game on 50.9% from the field.
Andrew Kartalis made it back-to-back games with 18 points on Saturday as he approaches a double-digit scoring average on the season.
Rigaud Destime and
Austin Mick have scored 8.8 and 7.8 respectively and remain the team leaders in assists with Mick dishing out 60 and Destime 54.
James Delahanty has gotten seven starts for the Dolphins as well and is one of only five Dolphins, the others being Latunji, Zieris, Mick, and
Chris Velasquez, to play in all 20 of the team's games.
Players to Watch (YC): The Cardinals come in with a well-balanced offensive attack that includes three players averaging at least 14 points per game, Devine Chisholm, Donald Hartley Jr. and Jaye Bookhart. Chisholm and Bookhart have been especially efficient as both are shooting above the 41% mark from the field and above 37% from downtown. Akil Vaugh has scored 9.0 per game and leads the team in rebounding with 9.2 per game. Mambe Koureissi is right behind him averaging 8.5 boards per game while scoring 12.5 points per game, good for fourth on the team.
News & Notes: In the last game against the Cardinals, the Dolphins once again relied heavily upon
Adeola Latunji who scored 30 points on 11-26 shooting. The Cardinals had three double-digit scorers, Bookhart, Chisholm, and Hartley Jr, , but the Cardinals shot only 32.4% from the field. However, York caught fire from beyond the arc and hit eleven of their twenty-three attempts from long range. As for the Dolphins, they had one of their poorest shooting performances of the season hitting only 29.6% of their shot attempts and 25% of their three-pointers. Despite this tough shooting night last time these two teams squared off, CSI holds the advantage on the stat sheet with a 42.8% shooting percentage on the season, slightly over 1% above York's 41.5% mark. The Cardinals have been the better team through 20 games both on the glass and from three-point range as they have shot about 3% above CSI's mark from downtown and possess a far better rebounding margin.
What's Next?: The Dolphins will face the Lehman College Lightning for the second time this season on Friday night as part of a men's and women's basketball doubleheader. The men's game will be the second of the night and will tip-off at approximately 7:30.
