DOLPHINS FALL TO ECC FOE DAEMEN COLLEGE ON THE ROAD, 1-0

Williamsville, NY – In game one of a conference double header, on a brisk Saturday morning, The College of Staten Island Men's Soccer team played in their sixth East Coast Conference (ECC) matchup of the season, losing a tight one to the Wildcats of Daemen College, 1-0. The loss drops the Dolphins record to 3-9-1 overall and 1-5 in the ECC. The win for the Wildcats improves their overall record to 4-9 and 2-5 in the ECC. The Dolphins have two more ECC matchups left in the season, and both will be at home this coming week.

KEY MOMENTS
The Dolphins would attack early in the game, going shot-for-shot within the first 10 minutes of play, however, the Wildcats were able to get one through at the 8:15 mark when Daemen's Arthur Djengue put one over the head of CSI goalkeeper, Omaer Hamzacebi that put Daemen up, 1-0. The score would remain, 1-0 at the half, but not until the Wildcats put more pressure on the Dolphins defense as they entered the half up in shots, 12-4. Hamzacebi helped the Dolphins stay down by one-goal, saving five of the six shots on goal in that first period. CSI did a much better job in the second half allowing only four Wildcat shots, while CSI posted three shots, though, none found the back of the net. Thus, Daemen would be able to hold on for the, 1-0, victory over CSI.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
The Dolphins were outshot, 16-7 overall, though, they played a much better game in the second half and were nearly even in shot attempts. CSI registered one more corner kick than Daemen, 3-2, however, none put the Dolphins in a position to score. CSI saved eight of the nine shots on goal taken by the Wildcats. Meanwhile, Daemen saved all four shots on goal attempted by CSI.

DOLPHINS OF THE GAME

Shane Siegel tied Bryant Navarro in shots with two apiece, each with one on-goal. Brendan Maguire and Jahmali Peterson accounted for the other two shots on-goal for CSI with one each. Hamzacebi saved eight shots for the Dolphins playing the entire game facing 16 shots in all, but only four in the second half.
