GAMEDAY: MEN’S & WOMEN’S SOCCER HOST LIONS OF MOLLOY COLLEGE IN DOUBLE HEADER ECC MATCHUP

10/30/2021 8:56:00 AM

Staten Island, NY – The College of Staten Island Men's & Women's Soccer Teams will host, for the first time ever, the Lions Men's & Women's Soccer Teams of Molloy College at Dolphin Soccer Park today. The CSI Women will take the field first in this East Coast Conference (ECC) double header at 11:00 am. The Dolphin Women come in with a 3-12-1 overall record and a 2-41 ECC record, while the Lion Women come in at 13-2 overall and a 6-1 ECC record, only a loss behind first place in the ECC standings this year. The CSI men will hit the field for a 2:00pm start as they come into this one with a 3-9-2 overall record and a 1-5-1 ECC record. The Men of Molloy come in with an 8-6-2 overall record and a 4-2-1 ECC record, currently tied for third in the ECC this year. Both CSI squads will be looking to play spoiler as both visiting opponents today are in the top portion of the ECC standings this year and looking for a playoff run.

LAST TIME OUT – Women's Soccer
The Women's Soccer Team is coming off a, 3-0, loss to first place ECC foe Daemen College, on the road, who remains unbeaten in the conference. This was CSI's second loss in a row following a, 1-0, win versus STAC two weeks ago. CSI has one game left following today's contest at home the following week. The Lions are currently riding a six-game win streak, their largest of the season, including a 13-0 win against a non-conference opponent a week ago.

LAST TIME OUT – Men's Soccer
The Men's Soccer Team returned home for the first time in over two weeks when they faced the Roberts Wesleyan College Redhawks this past Wednesday. Though the Dolphins took the lead in the seventy-second minute, it was the Redhawks who quickly responded with the equalizer just six minutes later. The game ended without another goal scored by either team resulting in a 1-1 draw. With the tie, CSI broke its three-game losing skid, with three more games (all home) to go on the season, including today's matchup. The Lions come into this one having a subpar overall season yet are in the top half of the conference battling for a playoff spot. The Lions lost their last game, 2-0, against a non-conference opponent at home. They also have lost three of their last six games, two of those losses were against ECC foes.

DOLPHINS TO WATCH
For the women, Nadia Evola leads the team with three of the nine goals scored this season. She has taken 15 total shots 10 of which have been on goal. Jenna Como leads the team with two assists and is second on the team in total minutes on the field having started and played every game. For the men, its Larry Diggs who now leads the team in total goals with three on the season on seven shots, all coming off the bench. Meanwhile, Daniel Angulo and Shane Siegel have been the main strikers for the Dolphins all season long combining for 45 shots three goals and two assists. Men's goalkeeper Omer Hamzacebi has been starting as of late for CSI and was a big part of CSI's stalemate with Roberts Wesleyan most recently, facing 29 shots while saving 12 of them in that game, both are season highs. Both squads defensively have shown up in nearly every game played, expect the same in today's matchup as CSI has not backed down to any opponent this year and they won't look to start now.
