Staten Island, NY – The College of Staten Island's Men's Soccer team officially have their first winning streak of the season, defeating East Coast Conference foe D'Youville College, 1-0 on the road in Buffalo, NY earlier this afternoon. The win improved the Dolphins record to 3-6 (1-3 ECC) while the Saints dropped to 4-6 (0-5 ECC). This was a big conference win for CSI late in the season as they shift gears towards a playoff push.
KEY MOMENTS
After a scoreless first half, CSI got on the board ten minutes into the second half off the foot of, Larry Diggs. It was initially a shot attempt by teammate, Jahmali Peterson that was saved, and Diggs was able to follow the rebound and put the Dolphins up, 1-0. They would go on to hold that lead for the victory with help from CSI goalie Bougary Sissoko who saved all five shots in the game and playing all 90 minutes.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
CSI were the aggressors on offense today, putting up 15 shots, seven on-goal to D'Youville's 10 shots, five on-goal. It was a second half surge that helped CSI gain momentum on the defensive side while keeping play on their half of the field for the majority of the second half. Daniel Angulo took the most shots in the game with four, two on them on-goal, though, both were saved by Saints goalie Ethan Picard who faced seven shots in the game.
DOLPHIN OF THE GAME
Today's Dolphin of the game is Freshmen Larry Diggs, the lone goal scorer of the game. Diggs took two shots in the game; one struck the back of the Saints net that helped seal the win for CSI. This was Diggs first goal of the season.
