Staten Island, NY – The College of Staten Island Women's Basketball Team played their first game in nearly two weeks this afternoon falling to the Molloy College Lions by a final score of 50-37. The Dolphins drop to 2-4 on the season and suffer their first loss in conference play. The Lions move to within one game of the .500 mark at 4-5 and even their conference mark at 1-1.

KEY MOMENTS

Neither team got off to a good start offensively as both sides struggled to begin the game. The Lions opened the game by scoring only twelve points in the opening quarter while the Dolphins did not register their first made field goal until there were six seconds on the clock. CSI would go on to score the first four points in the second, but Molloy responded with an 8-0 run to go ahead by eleven. However, the Dolphins answered right back with a 6-0 run of their own to close out the half trailing by just four, 20-16. This would be as close as the Dolphins would get the rest of the way as Molloy scored eleven of the first thirteen points in the second half to go ahead by double-digits. CSI wouldn't get any closer than nine again as the Lions remained firmly in control on their way to a thirteen-point win.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

Neither team shot the ball well as the Lions shot 37% while the Dolphins shot 25%. Both sides failed to surpass 22% from the three-point line as well, and the two sides combined to attempt only 10 free throws. In what was a very sloppy game, the teams committed 45 turnovers, but the Dolphins failed to make much of the Molloy giveaways until their deficit was too much to overcome. 

DOLPHIN OF THE GAME

Today's Dolphin of the game was one of only two Dolphins who shot the ball efficiently and gave CSI the best opportunity to get their offense on track. Ashley Lambert was 6-13 from the field with 18 points and 7 rebounds. She also connected on 4 of 8 attempts from beyond the arc and hit all of her free throws.
