Staten Island, NY – The College of Staten Island Men's Basketball team (1-5, 0-1 ECC) are coming off the heels of their first win of the season this past Saturday over formally unbeaten Pace University. Today, the Dolphins head over the bridge with for their second ECC conference matchup against long time CUNY rivals the Queens College Knights (2-2, 0-0 ECC). Game time is set for a 7:30 PM in Flushing, NY. The Knights and Dolphins are no strangers to each other. They have met a total of 11 times from 1977-1983. CSI currently has a nine-game win streak against Queens, though, this will be their first matchup in nearly 40 years and their first ever as ECC member schools.
LAST TIME OUT
As mentioned, CSI picked up their first win of the season in dramatic fashion on Saturday as they held on in the final seconds to defeat the Pace University Setters by a final score of 73-70. The win was the first of the season for the Dolphins and the first for first year Head Coach
Nick Doran. The previously unbeaten Setters are now 7-1 following the loss. For the CSI Men's Basketball program, the victory is their second over a Division II opponent and their first against a non-conference Division II opponent. The Knights come in off a 66-61 loss to Caldwell University at home, their lowest scoring game this season.
DOLPHINS TO WATCH
Coming off his best game of the season in the win against Pace University,
Austin Mick scorched the nets for 27 points including 7-14 from downtown.
Messiah Mallory is coming off his best two-game stretch of the season with averages of 15+ points and eight rebounds per-game. He also is averaging two blocks and two steals in that stretch.
Bryce Waterman leads the team in points per game with 12.7 and had big moments in their first win last Saturday scoring 15 points after his season and career high 28 points in the loss versus Adelphi University a little over a week ago.
