News & Notes: The two teams this afternoon are renewing a rivalry that has been dormant for almost 18 years. In the eight all-time meetings, Dominican has taken five wins, and has a 4-2 record in games played at the College of Staten Island. CSI, however, did win the last game in the series, 10-7, following an 18-5 loss in game one of a doubleheader played way back in 2003. The two teams played for six-straights seasons before that, after introducing play against one-another in 1993. Dominican has been idle since March 27, on that day beating CSI's ECC-neighbor in Mercy College, 6-2. That broke a two-game slide for the Chargers after they had won four of their first five games on the season. Dominican is currently ranked No. 7 in the NCBWA Northeast Poll. Playing in the CACC, they get back to conference play with a doubleheader against Goldey-Beacom College on Friday. As for CSI, after a 10-inning affair on Monday, they get right back to work today and play the first two in a three-game set on Friday against St. Thomas Aquinas at home, beginning at 2:00 PM. CSI is batting a respectable .284 this season, with 18 extra base hits. CSI, however, has just one stolen base on the season, a stark contrast to Dominican, who are averaging two per game so far this season (16 overall).
