Staten Island, NY – The College of Staten Island Women's Soccer team (1-5) travel to Lakewood, NJ to face the Lions of Georgian Court University (0-4) for a 3:00 PM start. Meanwhile, CSI's Men's Soccer team (0-4) will be looking for their first win at home in Dolphin Soccer Park with a visit from the Bears of Bloomfield College (1-3-1). Game time is set for 4:00 PM. This is the first meeting ever for the Women. For the Men, they played the Bears a handful of times in the 1980's, winning all contests against them except for one that ended in a, 1-1 tie. Both games are non-conference, however, they are important ones as teams embark on three-straight East Coast Conference (ECC) matchups following today's contests. A win for both squads would give them the momentum they can use.
LAST TIME OUT – Women's Soccer
The Women's Soccer team is coming off a, 5-1 conference defeat on the road against Mercy College. The Women had no answer for the offensive front that the Mavericks had all game long, outshooting CSI 21-2 (1-11 Shots-On-Goal). In today's matchup, the Lions come in averaging 7.5 shots per-game compared to CSI's 3.2 shots per-game. However, look for CSI to attack a struggling Lions team today who have not registered a win nor a single goal on the season yet. Both goalies have put in work for their teams and in today's matchup we could see more of the same as both teams are hungry for wins.
LAST TIME OUT – Men's Soccer
The Men's Soccer team are also coming off a conference loss at Mercy College, 2-0. CSI had built momentum after an early initial goal by the Mavericks, though CSI had opportunities to score, none were able to find the back of the Mavericks net in an effort to tie the game for most of the game. It was a penalty kick goal in the 83rd minute of play by Mercy that ultimately gave them the win. In today's matchup, the Bears are coming off a, 1-1 tie at The College of Saint Rose. Look for a physical contest today as both teams combine for over 100 fouls across all games played thus far. Both teams are giving up three goals per-game against their opponents, thus, defensive will be key, especially for the team that scores first.
