Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Men's & Women's Cross-Country teams will begin their marathon season on Friday, September 3rd in Bethpage, NY as part of the Adelphi Panthers XC Invite. The Women are slated to begin their 5K run at 3:30pm, while the Men begin their 8K run at 4:30pm. This will be the first of six invites throughout the season for both squads, including our own CSI XC Invite in late September at Clove Lakes Park in Staten Island.
 
LAST TIME OUT
In 2019, when the Dolphins last where on the run, both teams steadily improved as the season went along. The men's best finish in 2019 was seventh at the St. Joseph's Invitational out of the 24 teams in competition. While the women, at the same invite, finished fifteenth overall. Both squads also performed well at the East Coast Conference (ECC) Championships, as both teams placed above two ECC conference opponents in their first official DII ECC XC Championships in 2019. Although, the Dolphins scored unofficially (due to provisional status) they showcased among teams who have been in the conference for several years in only their first year as a DII program.

DOLPHINS TO WATCH
With many new faces on both sides, the Dolphins will seek support from the veterans on the teams. On the men's side, Junior Spencer Milito is primed for his best season yet. Through his first couple of years on the squad, Milito improved his 8K run times at each invite, especially towards the end of each season. On the women's side, Sophomore, Julia Calvo, a versatile and decorated star who made the choice to attend CSI, who is anticipated to be a bedrock for the team moving forward. She will be making her Cross Country debut coming of a solid freshmen year in Outdoor Track & Field, before the shutdown in 2020 due to the pandemic.
