GAMEDAY: WOMEN’S SOCCER TO FACE FELICIAN UNIVERSITY IN HOME OPENER

9/8/2021 11:18:00 AM

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Women's Soccer team will host their home opener on Wednesday, September 8 against non-conference Golden Falcons of Felician University. Game time is set to kick-off at 3:00pm at Dolphin Soccer Park. This will be the first meeting ever between the two teams. The Dolphins at home this time, will be looking for their first win as well as their first goal of the young season.

LAST TIME OUT
During last weekend's University of Bridgeport Soccer Classic, CSI fell to, 0-2, on the year after non-conference losses to American International College and Southern New Hampshire University. CSI mustered only one shot-on-goal in each game as defense was on for front for the Dolphins during each match, though, they did a better job of attacking in game two. The Golden Falcons will also be coming off a loss to East Stroudsburg University, 3-0, six days ago as part of their home opener. In that game, Felician tallied eight shots in the game, two of which were on-goal. Physicality will be key as the Golden Falcons registered four yellow cards in their game while the Dolphins registered one in their two games played thus far.

DOLPHINS TO WATCH
Freshmen forward, Nadia Evola, recorded the two shots-on-goal (one in each game) over the weekend. Look for her to continue to attack when the opportunity strikes. CSI's Freshmen goalies, Sara Villacres & Ariel Salaman each received a start and subbed in for one another late in each game. CSI will need to be on the lookout for Golden Falcon Sophormore, Carlie Koziol who took three of their eight shots in their lone game this season, while Felician Freshmen goalie saved seven shots, helping her team keep the game close. CSI will have their work cut out for them against a formidable team, however, Head Coach Brendan Guzman, is happy with how his team is learning after each game and is confident they will be up to the challenge especially at home.
