DOLPHINS UNABLE TO MOUNT COMEBACK IN LOPSIDED LOSS TO CHESTNUT HILL COLLEGE, 68-34

Philadelphia, PA – The College of Staten Island Women's Basketball played their first of three straight road games against the non-conference Griffins of Chestnut Hill College. CSI never led in the game as the Griffins came out firing on all cylinders and never looked back in a lopsided loss for the Dolphins, 68-34. The loss drops CSI's record to 3-12 overall, while the Griffins improve to 15-3 overall. CSI's next two road games will be double-headers at ECC member institutions.

KEY MOMENTS
The Dolphins started the game down, 8-0 as multiple turnovers hurt them in the first quarter. CSI only scored four points after the first quarter as they were down, 16-4. Within the first few minutes of the second quarter, CSI would cut the Griffin lead to nine, 20-11 off a Gia Esposito jumper. Unfortunately, the Griffins would go on an, 11-0 run to take a 19-point lead, 30-11. CSI would trade a few baskets in the final few minutes before entering halftime down, 41-20. As the third quarter began, neither team would score for over four minutes, until the Griffins went on a 14-0 run while holding CSI scoreless in the third for the first time this season. With CSI down 35 points to start the fourth and final frame, it was more of the same struggles for CSI on the offensive end to start the quarter. It wasn't until the six-minute mark when Jenalyse Alarcon found the bottom of the net, though, CSI was down big, 62-22. CSI would go on to outscore the Griffins, 14-13, in the fourth, however, it was mostly during garbage time as CSI fell by a final of, 68-34.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
This was CSI's lowest scoring game of the season and their largest loss of the season. CSI shot 23% from the field and turned over the ball 21 times compared to just 10 for the Griffins, that led to 25 points-off-turnovers. The Griffins also outscored CSI's bench, 38-14. The Dolphins did rebound the ball well, grabbing 10 on the offensive board as a team, though, CSI was only able to capitalize once on second-chance points. Only three Dolphins scored in this game, while all other Dolphins were held to 0-21 from field. On the other side, the Griffins had 10 players with at least one-field goal made.

DOLPHINS OF THE GAME
Gia Esposito scored 14 points off the bench on 5-12 shooting, leading CSI in scoring. Jenalyse Alarcon also scored in double-digits with 12 points on 5-12 shooting while grabbing seven rebounds. Elizabeth Lofaro was the only other Dolphins with at least one field-goal made as she scored nine points on 3-9 shooting and grabbed a team high nine boards, which is a new season and career high for Lofaro in rebounds.
