GAMEDAY: MEN'S SOCCER HOSTS D'YOUVILLE IN SEARCH OF SECOND-STRAIGHT WIN

10/1/2022 8:00:00 AM

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Men's Soccer Team will be looking to make it back-to-back wins on their home turf this afternoon when they take on the D'Youville University Saints.  The Dolphins come in with a 2-7 overall record and a 1-1 mark against the East Coast Conference.  The Saint enter today's match with a record of 1-8 and are 0-4 in conference play.

The Dolphins will be fresh following a week off since their last match against St. Thomas Aquinas one week ago.  The Dolphins took an early lead in the game following a goalkeeper miscue for the Spartans before Nicholas Kishenko scored for the second consecutive give the Dolphins a two-goal lead.  CSI would cruise to the 2-0 victory to even up their record at home at 2-2 and level their conference record at 1-1.  The Saints were also last in action on Saturday when they faced the University of the District of Columbia.  The Saints dropped that match by a final score of 2-1 after a seventy-first minute Firebirds goal broke a 1-1 tie in the late stages of the match.

The Dolphins played one of their best games of the season last Saturday led by Mohammedou Sow in the midfield along with the scoring of Brendan Maguire, who created multiple scoring opportunities, and Kishenko.  Leandro and Daniel Angulo also remain fixtures in the Dolphins lineup in the midfield and at a backer spot respectively.  In goal for CSI, Amari Thompson continues to play his best on his home pitch.  He posted his second clean sheet of the year at Dolphins Soccer Park last week and has allowed just three goals in four home matches this season.  For the Saints, Felipe Santos is the only player with more than a single goal this season and he leads the team with four.  Saints goalkeeping comes in allowing just shy of five goals per game as well presenting an opportunity for a Dolphins attack that has scored multiple goals for just the third time this season on Saturday.
