MEN'S BASKETBALL OFFICIALLY RELEASES COMPLETE 2022-2023 SCHEDULE

10/14/2022 12:00:00 PM

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Men's Basketball Team officially released their 2022-2023 schedule today.  The schedule features the Dolphins taking on a full slate of Division II opponents from a variety of different conferences throughout the region.  Among those conferences are the Northeast-10 Conference, the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference and the East Coast Conference.  Last season was the third of three seasons that the Dolphins spent as a provisional NCAA Division II program, and with their acceptance as a full Division II member this past summer, the team will be eligible to qualify for the postseason this year.

The Dolphins will open their season on November 11th with their annual Tournament of Heroes.  As was the case last season, the event will not feature a bracket-style tournament format but will instead feature a series of four games played across two days on Friday and Saturday.  In their season-opener, the Dolphins will face Wilmington University before facing Goldey-Beacom College the following day.  Following that weekend slate, the Dolphins will not return home until Wednesday November 30th for their conference-opener against Mercy College.

In addition to the annual Tournament of Heroes and conference-opener, the Dolphins schedule also features Alumni Day on January 28th.  That day's slate of games will open with the Matty White Men's Basketball Alumni Game followed by a matchup between the Dolphins and St. Thomas Aquinas College.  The season will conclude one month later on Saturday February 25th when the Dolphins will host Roberts Wesleyan University on Senior Day.

Last season's Dolphins team got off to a difficult 0-4 start before picking up their first win against unbeaten Pace University.  The Dolphins then defeated CUNY and East Coast Conference rival Queens College to improve to 2-4 before losing back-to-back games.  After the 2-6 start to their season, the Dolphins would go 5-6 across their next eleven games before ending the season on a six-game losing streak.  The team finished 6-12 against the ECC and two games out of a potential playoff spot had they been eligible to qualify.  The 2022-2023 roster of seven returners and six newcomers will look to factor into the playoff picture this season as the Men's Basketball program has not gotten a taste of postseason play since the conclusion of the 2018-2019 campaign.

Throughout the season, all CSI home games will be broadcast live on CSI Sportsnet via the ECC Network.  Links to all of the broadcasts can be found on the 2022-2023 Men's Basketball schedule page here.  All games will also be available for on-demand viewing via the ECC Network.
