GAMEDAY: WOMEN'S SOCCER FACES MERCY IN EAST COAST CONFERENCE SHOWDOWN

10/15/2022 6:00:00 AM

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Women's Soccer Team will look to bounce back from last weekend's shutout loss to Roberts Wesleyan University today when they take on another conference opponent in Mercy College.  The Dolphins enter today's game 1-7-1 overall and 1-3 against the East Coast Conference.  The Mavericks come into Dolphins Soccer Park with a 10-2 overall record and a perfect 5-0 mark against the ECC.  These two teams have met just once in a game played in Dobbs Ferry last season.  Mercy took the win in that match as they shut the Dolphins out by a final score of 3-0.

The Dolphins were last in action one week ago against Roberts Wesleyan University and were shut out 2-0 behind a pair of second-half goals for the Redhawks.  The Dolphins were outshot 20-2 in the game, but goalkeeper Sara Villacres added another ten saves for CSI in the defeat.  Mercy last played on Monday against Bentley University and lost by a 2-1 final score.  Despite suffering the defeat, Mercy held a distinct advantage in both shots and corner kicks throughout the entire match.  However, they could not recover from a two-goal first-half deficit in what would go down as just their second loss of the season.

The Dolphins continue to be led in goals by a trio of players who have found the back of the net once, Macy Jones-Busch, Christina Lambraia, and Adriana MelgarKolleen Rodriguez and Barbara Serrano have the only two CSI assists on the season.  Despite struggling to generate scoring chances, the Dolphins had scored three times in their last three matches ahead of Saturday's meeting with the Redhawks.  Kayla Camacho is the leader in goals for the Mavericks with eight, and Ancksu Dixon, who scored the lone Mercy goal on Monday, and Nikki Bermudez are not far behind with six.  Dixon also leads the team in assists with six.  In goal Kamy Anaya has started all twelve games for the Mavericks allowing .62 goals per game and saving nearly 84% of the shots she has faced.

Gametime - 11:00 AM
Location - Staten Island, NY
All-Time Series - Mercy leads 1-0
Last Meeting - 9/18/21: Mercy won 3-0
