GAMEDAY: WOMEN'S SOCCER HOSTS GEORGIAN COURT IN NON-CONFERENCE PLAY

10/19/2022 8:00:00 AM

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Women's Soccer Team will return to non-conference play on their home turf this afternoon when they take on Georgian Court University.  The Dolphins enter today's game with a record of 1-8-1 and the Lions come in with a record of 3-6-6.  These two teams have met just once before last season and it was a big win for Georgian Court as they defeated the Dolphins 8-0.

The Dolphins will play their second straight game at home following Saturday's 6-0 loss against Mercy College.  The Dolphins did not register a shot through the first forty-five minutes, but they only trailed by two at the break.  The Mavericks broke the game wide open in the second half and cruised to a six-goal victory.  The Lions last played on Saturday as well and dropped a 3-2 result to fellow Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference program the University of Bridgeport.  After getting on the board first, the Lions surrendered three unanswered goals on their way to a 3-2 defeat.

The Dolphins remain stuck on three goals for the 2022 season with the three scores belonging to Adriana Melgar, Christina Lambraia, and Macy Jones-Busch.  Melgar, along with Ariel Salaman, Emily Albano, and Angye Galan have each started all ten games for the Dolphins and logged over 800 minutes.  In goal, Sara Villacres had allowed two goals or fewer in three out of four games ahead of Saturday's game.  Leading the Lions in goals are Aliya Canfield and Krystal Hund who each have four.  The duo also leads the team in shots and Canfield is one of four Lions who has played in and started every game.  Abby Kenelly leads Georgian Court in assists with three and scored a pair of goals last time out against the Purple Knights.  Alyssa Dias has started all fifteen games in goal for the Lions allowing less than two goals per game and saving nearly 75% of the shots she has faced.
