GAMEDAY: WOMEN'S SOCCER HOSTS DAEMEN ON SENIOR DAY WITH PLAYOFF HOPES ON THE LINE

10/26/2022 6:00:00 AM

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Women's Soccer Team will take the field at home for the final time this season today as they host the Daemen University Wildcats on Senior Day.  The 2-8-2 Dolphins will honor seniors Danie Duka, Angye Galan, Sthefany Ballesteros, Caitlyn Burns, and Barbara Serrano ahead of kickoff, and with their conference record at 2-4, they need a victory over the Wildcats to keep their playoff hopes alive.  Daemen comes in looking to clinch the final East Coast Conference playoff spot with a win in today's match and they come in 3-9-2 overall, 3-3 against the ECC.

The Dolphins were unbeaten last week as they tied with Georgian Court and defeated Lincoln University.  In their game against Lincoln, the Dolphins scored a season-high four goals in the 4-1 victory, and the team picked up a much-needed conference victory.  The Wildcats returned from ten days off in their last game when they took on Roberts-Wesleyan University on Saturday.  Showing no ill effects from the long layoff, Daemen defeated the Redhawks 4-0 and moved to within one conference win of securing a spot in the postseason.

Jacquelyn D'Amico had a stellar week for the Dolphins and surged to the team lead in goals after scoring three times.  Nadia Evola returned to CSI starting lineup in Wednesday's game against Georgian Court and quickly made an impact as she picked up an assist in both of CSI's games last week.  The Dolphins goalkeeping duo of Sara Villacres and Brianna Dore combined to allow just a pair of goals during CSI's last two games and have helped put the team in a position where they control their own postseason fate.  Like the Dolphis, the Wildcats are also led in goals by a pair of players with three, Brooke Amato and Kylie Miranto.  In net, Daemen goalkeeping has held the opposition to just over 1.6 goals per game while saving nearly 75% of shots faced.
