10/29/2022 9:00:00 AM

Queens, NY - The College of Staten Island Women's Soccer Team will conclude the 2022 season tonight as they take on East Coast Conference and CUNY rival Queens College in their final match of the season.  The 2-9-2 Dolphins are 2-5 against the ECC and have been eliminated from playoff contention.  The Knights come in 2-10-2 overall, 2-4-1 against the conference, and are also eliminated from the playoff picture.  The Knights have taken both past meetings with the Dolphins winning 2-1 in 2019 and 4-2 last season.

The Dolphins were still alive in their bid for a playoff spot heading into their last game with Daemen University on Wednesday.  However, the Dolphins fell behind 2-0 before Christina Lambraia scored the first Dolphins goal in the second half.  CSI then surrendered a pair of unanswered goals the rest of the way and fell to the Wildcats 4-1.  The Knights also last played on Wednesday and suffered a 5-0 defeat in non-conference action against the University of New Haven.

With Wednesday's goal Lambraia earned a share of the team lead in goals alongside Jacquelyn D'Amico.  Second in points behind Lambraia and D'Amico, who each has six points, is Macy Jones-Busch who has four on a goal and two assists.  Nadia Evola has also recorded a pair of assists since returning to the Dolphins lineup in the last five games.  Despite allowing multiple goals on Wednesday, Sara Villacres has kept her goals allowed average under 2.5 and maintains a save percentage of 73%.  The Knights have five players who have scored multiple goals this season, but the only player with more than two is Julia Ragone.  Tied with Ragone for the team lead in points with seven is Kristina Gambino who has two goals and three assists.  In net, a pair of Knights goalkeepers, Ariana Vargas and Katelyn Villacres, have combined to allow 2.14 goals per game and save 66% of the shots they have faced.
