Staten Island, NY – The College of Staten Island Esports Teams played their first set of competition in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Fall 2022 Esports League last week. Overall, the teams went 5-5 during Week One of ECAC competition. Many teams/players had some impressive debuts while competing in six different game titles. Game Notes: CSI Blue RL Team got off to a rough start losing in straight sets to start their season in the RL Open Division. Pasquale (grogg) scored the only two goals in the series for CSI. Meanwhile, fresh off a Collegeiate Esports Commissioners Cup (CECC) appearance last semester, the White RL Team picked up a win in straight sets to start their season in the RL Varsity Division. It was Vargas (Driftzy) who scored the game winner in overtime (+1:19) that gave CSI the 1-0 series lead. They would use that momentum to win the next three games. In the deciding game it was Kleyer (Mucks) who made four key saves in the one goal win, 3-2.

ECAC Call of Duty Vanguard | 4v4 best of 5 | 10+ Schools in Competition
Dolphins Team Competed: Richard Hunt (HuntXO), Nicholas Stathakos (Nix), Mohamed Elshowki (MotiveNYC), Dylan Sullivan (Fivebang)

Week 1 Results: CSI 3, St. Mary's University 0 (250-24, 6-2, 3-0)
        Current Record: 1-0 | Tied for 1st with 9 others
Game Notes: CSI's COD team debuted with a convincing 3-0 victory. Sullivan (Fivebang) led the team in game one with 34 Eliminations. In Game 2 in was Hunt (HuntXO) who tallied seven Eliminations and three plants to help seal the game two win. In game three, Elshowki (MotiveNYC) led the team with 24 Eliminations and four Objective Kills that helped seal their game and match win.

        Current Record: 0-1 | Tied for 30th
Game Notes: CSI's Valorant Team starts this season with a loss for the first time ever. They lost in straight sets and will need to build more chemistry as the season moves along. Wells (Sano) led the squad with 22 Kills between both games. Nomeh (Apumatic) and Hyland (Anastas1aa) both tallied 19 Kills in the loss. Look for the team to bounce back tonight.

Week 1 Results: CSI 2, Illinois Wesleyan University 0 (280-273, 280-273)
        Current Record: 1-0 | Tied for 1st with 29 others
Game Notes: In LOL's team debut, CSI took down Illinois Wesleyan University in straight sets, 2-0. In game one, CSI dominated with a total team Kill/Death/Assists (KDA) of 38/8/75. In game two, it was more of the same, having only been killed once with a total team KDA of 27/1/48. Uy (Ajuy33289), lead the team with 21 Kills combined in both games while Ponkov (VTaliy) and Hyland (Anastas1aa) had the most Assists in both games.

Game(s) Notes: Jared Williams (SBCxSmoke) who plays in both Madden 23 and NBA 2K23, starts his CSI Esports debut with a win over Derek K. of The University of Kentucky in the Madden League. Williams (SBCxSmoke) chose the Miami Dolphins in game one to go up against Derek's Green Bay Packers. Williams (SBCxSmoke) held Aaron Rodgers to one touchdown while he threw three TD's with Tua in a 27-7 game one victory. Williams (SBCxSmoke) would next go with the Bills in game two using a great balance between running the ball and passing to shutout Derek's Ravens, 28-0 for the game two win and match win, 2-0. Williams (SBCxSmoke) also would take the win in the NBA 2K23, 2-1. For Healey's (Rhealzzz) matchup, he would have internet issues in each game and thus ultimately took an unofficial forfeit loss.

Game(s) Notes: In Velasquez (MrStatenIsland13)'s matchup, he took game one with the 76ers against Emmanuel M. of SWAGU who lost with the Nets, 74-65. Emmanuel M. bounced back in game two with the Bucks for a 66-53 final to tie the series at, 1-1. In game three it was the Bucks again for SWAGU against CSI's Lakers who could not cut into the lead, giving Emmanuel and SWAGU the game and match win. For Nieves (NievesNYC)'s matchup, each game was decided by less than 10 points, though, Tezin T of UA was able to hold the lead in both games and come out with the wins to take the match.
