Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

DOLPHINS WIN STREAK HALTED AT TWO FOLLOWING SHUTOUT LOSS TO CHESTNUT HILL

Philadelphia, PA - The College of Staten Island Men's Soccer Team had their win streak halted at two games tonight following a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Chestut Hill College.  The Dolphins fell behind late in the first half after a poor pass resulted in a CSI turnover that led to the first Chestnut Hill goal.  Less than two minutes after the second half started, the Griffins would strike again following an impressive series of passes that culminated in the game's second and final goal.  The shutout loss dropped the Dolphins to 3-8 on the season and improved the Griffins record to 2-7-3.

Steven Adebisi opened the game with the first shot of the match just over three minutes in, but this would be the last CSI shot on goal for nearly twenty-five minutes.  During the first half the Griffins would outshoot the Dolphins eight to four, but CSI goalkeeper Columbus Enslen and the CSI defense were able to keep the game scoreless for nearly forty minutes.  That changed with just over five minutes to play in the opening half when a poor Dolphins pass was intercepted by Juan Molina.  Molina redirected the ball into the middle of the box where it found the foot of Timothy Kane for the first Chestnut Hill goal, the only score of the first half.

Following the intermission, the Griffins wasted no time extending their 1-0 lead.  Less than two minutes after played resumed, a series of great passes by Chestnut Hill set up Jason Barragan in front for the team's second goal of the night.  Both Kane, who had already found the back of the net, and Christian Torres would earn an assist on the goal.  The two-goal advantage would be all the Griffins needed as they outshot the Dolphins by a nearly two-to-one margin, 11-6, in the second half.  CSI would finish the game with six shots on goal and were held without a goal for the fifth time in eleven games this season.

Half of the CSI shots on goal belonged to Shane Siegel who followed up his goal on Saturday with three more shots on target in tonight's game.  Tonight's game also marked the first start of the season for Enslen, who saved three shots, and the season debut of Juan Cardona, who added a save of his own.  With the team missing several key players tonight, the Dolphins also inserted Luke Ambrose, who contributed one of the CSI shots on goal, into the game for his third appearance of the season.  For the Griffins, Kane's goal was his second of the season and Barragan's was his third.  Both Kane and Torres picked up their first assist of the year on the Barragan goal and helped the Griffins bring an end to to their winless streak at three games.

The Dolphins will look to keep their win streak against conference opponents alive this weekend when they take on Roberts Wesleyan University at 3:30 PM.
