DOLPHINS FALL TO MOLLOY COLLEGE IN CONFERENCE GAME, 64-39

Staten Island, NY | The College of Staten Island Women's Basketball team fell to the Molloy Lions this afternoon, 64-39. This loss snaps the Dolphins two-game win streak. The Dolphins now sit at 5-14 on the year and fall to 3-8 in conference play. The opposing Lions improve to 10-8 and 7-4 in ECC play.

KEY MOMENTS
Lambert got things started for the Dolphins, but they struggled to score early on. The Lions took advantage of some missed shots and turnovers. Molloy jumped out to a quick 13-4 advantage with 2:25 left in the first quarter. Gia Esposito knocked down back-to-back threes to close the gap for the Dolphins to finish the quarter, 13-10. Throughout the second quarter, the Lions and Dolphins traded blows behind hot shooting from beyond the arch. Out of a Lions timeout, Molloy gained some momentum and created a six-point cushion following an and-1. The Lions would maintain that lead, and CSI would enter halftime down six, 26-20. The Dolphins and Lions went back-and-forth early in the third. Ashley Lambert nailed a huge triple with just under six minutes left in the quarter to bring CSI within two points. Molloy would respond with authority, as they built up an eight-point lead with 2:54 remaining in the third. The Dolphins found themselves trailing by 11 at the start the final period, 48-37. CSI would have a rough fourth quarter as they had trouble on both ends of the floor. The Lions would open up a 15-point lead with under four to play, and they wouldn't look back. The Dolphins only scored two points in the fourth quarter. Molloy went on to win, 64-39.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
The Dolphins had a rough shooting performance. They shot only 24% from the field, 29% from three, and 50% from the free throw line. The biggest disparity came from the stripe. The Lions made 17-19 free throws, while the Dolphins shot just 3-6. Molloy had a well-balanced offensive game. They tallied 40% from the field, 28% from three, and 90% from the line.
 
DOLPHIN OF THE GAME
Gia Esposito was a huge spark off the bench. She led the Dolphins in scoring with 15 points behind her blazing hot shooting from deep (4-8). She also tallied two rebounds and two assists. She was an efficient 5-9 from the floor and helped CSI spread things out offensively.
