Staten Island, NY | The College of Staten Island Women's Basketball team took care of business tonight against Roberts Wesleyan College. They beat the Redhawks by 17, 66-49. This puts them back in the win-column after dropping their last game. They have now won three of their last four games. The Dolphins now sit at 6-14 on the year and improve to 4-8 in conference play. The opposing Redhawks fall to 10-9 and 7-6 in ECC play.

The Redhawks scratched first as the Dolphins started a bit sloppy. Both teams struggled to score early on. Behind an

Jenalyse Alarcon, the Dolphins took an early 6-4 lead. CSI would close the quarter strong, as their defense led to easy offense. They gained a rhythm offensively, and they ended the first quarter up 12, 16-4. They would keep it up to start the second quarter, on their way to opening up a 23-6 advantage at the 6:11 mark. This forced the Redhawks to talk it over. Roberts Wesleyan College would gain some ground behind a 7-2 run, making it 25-13 with just over two minutes to go in the half. The Dolphins would end the quarter strong and occupy a 15-point lead entering intermission, 30-15. The Redhawks would rip-off a quick 3-0 run as the Dolphins were quiet to start the third quarter. Following a timeout, the Redhawks would continue their comeback, cutting the lead to just 10, 33-23. Both teams would go back-and-forth to close the third.
Gia Esposito would help the Dolphins maintain their double-digit lead, 44-32, following a corner three. CSI would enter the fourth up 13. The Redhawks wouldn't go away. They started the final stanza on a 10-2 run to close the gap to five, 47-42, at the 6:13 mark. From there on out, it was all Dolphins. They opened up a 17-point lead with just over two minutes to go. They never looked back. CSI went on to win handily, 66-49.

The Dolphins had a nice overall shooting performance. They shot 39% from the field, 35% from three, and 67% from the free throw line. The biggest disparity came from deep. The Dolphins made 10 treys to only 4 for the Redhawks. Roberts Wesleyan College had a rough offensive game. They shot a measly 27% from the field, 22% from three, and 69% from the line.
DOLPHIN OF THE GAME
Ashley Lambert had a stellar all-around performance for CSI. She led the Dolphins in scoring with 20 points behind her hot-hand from beyond-the-arch (4-9). She also tallied five rebounds and five assists. She was an efficient 7-13 from the floor and did just about everything in her team-high 40 minutes of play.
