Staten Island, NY | The College of Staten Island faced off against the Lions today in their second ECC doubleheader of the season. The Dolphins dropped both games against Molloy College. KEY MOMENTS
Game 1
Molloy College came out strong as they scratched in the bottom of the first, second, and third inning. The Lions would score a sole run in the first, eight runs in the second, and six runs in the third, which would all go unanswered for a 15-0 advantage. That is of course, until the Dolphins were able to finally scratch in the top of the fourth. CSI's six-run inning was sparked by a Gallo single through the left side and an advance to second off of a wild pitch, which led to a Moore score. Porcaro would walk and Mochrie would reach on a fielding error, as Porcaro and Gallo advanced to second and third bases. An Aponte reach on a fielder's choice would lead to an RBI as Gallo scored. Immediately following that, Carcano singled to center field and Porcaro scored. To close the inning, Acosta doubled to center field which led to three RBIs as Carreon, Carcano, and Aponte scored. The Lions nine-run lead would be maintained, and they went on to win 15-6.
Game 2
The Lions would start this one just as they did the last one. They tallied a quick run in the bottom of the first. CSI would respond this time with a run of their own. This was done behind a Carcano single to shortstop which led to an RBI as Macpherson scored. The game was tied 1-1. Molloy added two runs in the bottom of the second, and after a quiet third and fourth innings from both squads, they would tack on two more in the bottom of the fifth. The Dolphins would make some noise in the top of the seventh though. Gallo would score on a wild pitch. After that, a Carcano groundout to shortstop would lead to a Whalen advance. Following an Acosta single up the middle, Whalen would score. Unfortunately for CSI, it wouldn't be enough to close the gap. They lost 5-3.
