CSI FALLS TO HOLY FAMILY UNIVERSITY, 9-8

Staten Island, NY | The College of Staten Island faced off against the Tigers today. They were scheduled for a doubleheader, but due to weather conditions the second game was canceled.  The Dolphins dropped the sole game, 9-8. Today's loss puts the Dolphins at 5-9 (0-2 ECC) on the season, as the opposing Tigers improve to 6-7 (1-1 CACC) overall.

KEY MOMENTS
The Dolphins got things started with a bang as Anissa Acosta homered to left field in the first inning to give CSI a quick 1-0 lead. They would keep it going in the top of the second. Behind a Porcaro single to second base, and walks from Mochrie, Carreon, and Acosta, Carcano would single down the left field line for 2 RBIs as Porcaro and Carreon scored. The Dolphins would tack on one more run in the top of the third to take a commanding 4-0 advantage. The Tigers would finally scratch in the bottom of the third as they tallied two runs. CSI would promptly answer with two runs of their own. This was sparked from a Moore fly-out to right field which was followed up by a Macpherson single up the middle leading to a Carcano score. Aponte would single to right center and steal second while Macpherson stole home and scored. CSI led 6-2. Holy Family would combine for five runs in the fourth and fifth innings as they took their first lead of the game, 7-6. Both squads would score two-runs apiece in the final innings as the Dolphins would fall a run short. They went on to lose 9-8.
