Staten Island, NY | The College of Staten Island faced off against the Spartans today in their their third ECC doubleheader of the season. The Dolphins dropped both games against Saint Thomas Aquinas College and are now in the midst of a seven-game losing streak. They fell in game one, 3-1, and lost game two, 9-0. Today's matchup puts the Dolphins at 5-11 (0-3 ECC) on the season, as the opposing Spartans improve to 10-11 (4-0 ECC) overall.
KEY MOMENTS
Game 1
STAC got things started early as they scratched in the top of the first inning. CSI would tally their first hits in the bottom of the third behind singles from both Acosta and Carcano. They would add another hit in the bottom of the fourth behind a Porcaro double to right center. The Spartans put up a solo run in the fifth inning as the Dolphins gave up two hits. STAC took a 2-0 lead. Both teams would go hitless for consecutive innings until Moore singled one up the middle for CSI. The Spartans would extend their lead to 3-0 until CSI finally scored their sole run in the bottom of the seventh. This was set up from a Gallo single and a Kateridge pinch hit that led to a reach on a fielder's choice. It led to an RBI as Gallo scored. CSI went on to lose 3-1.
Game 2
The Spartans would pitch a shutout in this one. In a game where the Dolphins didn't score a run or tally a hit, STAC came out strong once again. They put up four runs in the first inning, a solo run in the second, and four more in the third. The Spartans won the contest 9-0.

Claudia Porcaro. She was stellar in the outfield with eight catches, seven putouts, and one assist CSI's loss.
