CSI ESPORTS WEEKLY REPORT: ECAC WEEK EIGHT RECAP & PLAYOFF PREVIEW MATCHUPS | ECC WEEK SIX RECAP

Staten Island, NY | The College of Staten Island Esports teams completed their eighth and final week of competitions in the Spring 2022 ECAC Esports Season. Among the four teams for CSI in the ECAC, three qualified for the playoffs! Super Smash Brothers Ultimate received a number 13 seed, Rocket League received the number 16 seed while Call of Duty earned the seventh seed. League of Legends was the lone team to not make the playoffs this year. Among the teams that made the ECAC playoffs, they finished with an overall record of 13-10. On the ECC Esports side, the teams completed their sixth week of competitions. The ECC teams of Valorant, Rocket League, and Overwatch are a combined 13-5 thus far with only a couple of weeks left in the ECC Esports season. Below you will find every Esports match played in week eight of the ECAC and in week six of the ECC. Week Eight Results: CSI 2, Husson University 0 (9-7, 9-5 Stocks Taken)
Date / Conference: Monday, March 21, 2022 / Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC)
Game Notes:
ECAC: Best two out of three 9-Stock 3v3 Crew Battle
CSI's SSBU team of Sofronio Lorenzo (Frio), Jeremiah Alonso (YoshiSonic35), Nicholas Lam (ToonNick), and Justin Pena (Yotin) defeated Husson University in straight sets, 2-0. With their momentum from the previous week, CSI was looking to continue the win streak facing off against HU. During game one CSI would send out Alonso (YoshiSonic35) to take on HU's first opponent. Unfortunately, Alonso would fall but not without taking one stock off of the opponent. Next, Lorenzo (Frio) would be sent out and would take the remaining two stocks off while only losing one himself. HU's next opponent would ultimately fall but would take another stock off of Lorenzo (Frio). HU'S last member would take out Lorenzo but would lose one stock in the process. Lastly, Pena (Yotin) would be sent out and would finish the job, CSI took the game. For game two CSI would switch to Lam (ToonNick). He would take out the first opponent on HU and would take out two stocks of the following member taking a total of five stocks. CSI would then send out Lorenzo (Frio), and he would take out the remaining stocks and when faced off against the last member of HU, he would finish the job leading CSI to the win with some more momentum as playoffs set to begin.

CSI 0 vs. Grand Valley State University 3
Date / Conference: Friday, March 25, 2022 / Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC)
Game Notes:
Best three out of five 1v1 Online Format
CSI's team in the game of Call of Duty with the likes of Garic Li (Michelangelo), Roberto Perez (Wu), Abdullah Mustafa (ShadowQS), and Mohamed Elshowki (KingMotive), would, unfortunately, fall during both games they have played last week. CSI would give it their all but Carroll University, as well as Grand Valley State University, would be quick to adapt and maintain their pressure on CSI. Winning the series in a 3-0 fashion. CSI will look to regroup and train until the start of the playoffs.

Game Notes:
ECC & ECAC: Best three out of five, 3v3
ECAC: CSI's Rocket League team of Ralphy Vargas (Driftzy), Samuel Rozenfeld (Eleventeen), and Maxim Kleyer (Muckz) were defeated by Grand Valley State University in straight sets. CSI would try to give it their all this time around, however, they would be stopped by GVSU. During game one GVSU would score two goals before CSI had the chance to get one in. As time kept going GVSU would end up scoring another three, whereas CSI would only score one more goal, ending the game, 2-5. In game two, CSI would keep it close as they would take the lead 2-1 in the game. The goals were scored by Kyleyer (Mucks), and Rozenfeld (Eleventeen). However, GVSU would find a way to tie it up. Then, within a minute GVSU would find another opening and score the game-winning goal as they took game two. In game three, GVSU would show their dominance and adaptability, scoring two goals and shutting out CSI from getting any at all. As time ran out GVSU would finish the game 2-0 and take the series over CSI.
 
ECC: CSI would rest last week in the ECC during their bye week, as they prepare this week to take on a 2-3 Daemen College RL team. CSI will look to bounce back after a loss to number one Molloy College, prior to their bye week.

Week Six Results: CSI 2, Mercy College 0
Date / Conference: Friday, March 25, 8:00 PM / East Coast Conference (ECC)
Game Notes:
ECC & ECAC: Best two out of three, 3v3
CSI's League of Legends team of Chris (JaB00L), Josh Allen Trayvilla (Kaeru6), Ethan Tang (Aspect of Orion), Arielle Uy (Ajuy33289), and Vitaliy Pankov (vTaliy) defeated Mercy college in back-to-back games. Bouncing back from a rough week, CSI clutched it out during their game against Mercy College. CSI would have top damage and higher levels compared to MC in both games during their series which would help them secure a win. CSI would take down several towers and would slay Barons and Dragons. CSI would take home the win in a 2-0 fashion. CSI's LOL season ends with this win, however, CSI did not qualify for the playoffs as only the top four teams make it. CSI will regroup its troops and prepare for a better season in the Fall!

Week Six Results: CSI 0 vs Southern New Hampshire University 3
Date / Conference: Friday, March 25, 2022 – 6:00 PM / East Coast Conference (ECC)
Game Notes:
Best two out of three, 3v3
CSI's Overwatch team of Shane Drucker (Weast), Younan Ibrahim (Yawn), James Handibode (Sly), Elizabeth Garrison (Lizzie), Andrew Shinoda (Bioactive1), and Alyssa Ramharracksingh (RamsZer0) were defeated by Southern New Hampshire University in the second time they have met this season. In game one, round one, CSI and Southern New Hampshire University would try to take over the objective however, it would be SNHU that would keep their pressure on CSI and did not let CSI get a single percent on the objective. SNHU would take the round 100%-0%. In round two CSI would rush in quickly taking over the objective first and keeping their defense up against SNHU. However, SNHU would not let CSI remain in control. After a strong fought brawl SNHU would take over the objective. CSI gave a strong last push contesting the objective but would fall to SNHU at the very last second 99%-100%. In game two, round one, CSI would look to defend their objective from SNHU. SNHU would not completely take the objective but as time ran out they managed to put 75% on the objective when attacking. For round two CSI would try to attack this time around. SNHU would keep CSI at bay and would have a strong defense to take on CSI. Ultimately CSI could not put as much damage as SNHU did and would lose the game. In game three, round one, CSI would attack but would not get a single point on the board as SNHU did not let CSI near the Objective. In round two CSI would defend the objective. However, with SNHU rushing down the objective CSI could not hold up and ultimately fall and not get back on the point before SNHU. SNHU would win the series 3-0.

Best two out of three, 3v3
CSI's Valorant team of Andrew Aquino (Bread), Kyle Collins (7iq), Fadlan Cekainiku (Yedi), Eric Lin (Auth3nticReyna), and Erik Davis (c0ld) had their bye week last week and used the time to practice as they get ready to finish the last couple of weeks of the season strong. This week they play a winless Molloy College team as they attempt to reclaim the number one spot.
