Box Score Staten Island, NY | The College of Staten Island faced off against the Saints today. They split the games in the doubleheader versus D'Youville University. They fell in game one, 7-6, but won game two, 18-5. These two squads were supposed to have a three-game set, but one of the games got postponed due to weather. Today's matchup puts CSI at 9-18 (2-9 ECC) on the season, as the opposing Saints improve to 9-16 (3-8 ECC) overall.
KEY MOMENTS
Game 1
The Saints got things started early as they scratched in the bottom of the first inning. They took a quick three-run advantage. Both teams tacked on sole runs in the fourth. CSI would score off of a Morel reach on a fielding error as Marten scored. The Saints led 4-1. They would again trade blows in the fifth as both teams scored two runs each. The Dolphins would score off of a Marten fly-out to rightfield which helped Myers score. That was followed by an Ulaj single to left field which led to an RBI as Cippoletti scored. The Saints led 6-3. CSI would score again on an Anthony Sute single as Morel scored. This cut the Saints advantage to just two, 6-4. That was before D'Youville scratched again in the bottom of the sixth. The Dolphins closed the game with a two-run seventh inning behind scores from both Ulaj and Gardner, but they would fall a run short and lose 7-6.
Game 2
D'Youville would once again scratch first in the bottom of the second as they took a quick three-run lead. CSI would put together a monster seven-run third inning to take a four-run advantage. This was sparked by an Ulaj double to center field as Cippoletti scored the first run. A Gardner single would then lead to an Ulaj score. Later, a Santiago walk would push Marten in for the score. Campisi would then single which led to two RBIs as Collica and Gardner scored. CSI closed the inning behind a Myers single leading to Campisi and Santiago runs. The Dolphins led 7-3. They didn't stop there. Next came a five-run fourth inning to blow this one open. Collica singled as Gardner and Marten would score. A Myers single led to an RBI and Campisi picked up the run. This sequence ended with an Ulaj single to help Myers and Kehoe collect runs. CSI took a 12-3 lead. The Saints couldn't respond as CSI would keep it coming with a six-run fifth inning which gave them an 18-3 advantage over D'Youville. The Saints would tack on sole runs in the fifth and sixth inning, but the game was decided. CSI won 18-5.

Marten went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Gardner tallied a 2-for-5 game with three runs and one RBI. Campisi was 3-for-5 with three runs and three RBIs. Collica finished with a 1-for-3 game as he added two runs and two RBIs.
John Esposito led the pitching for the Dolphins as he registered three strikeouts and only gave up five hits. He picked up the win (3-2). The Saints finished with five runs, four hits, and three errors.
