Staten Island, NY | The College of Staten Island faced off against the Devils today. The Dolphins split the games against University of the Sciences. They won game one, 1-0, but dropped game two, 6-2. CSI has now lost four of their last six games. Today's matchup puts the Dolphins at 11-21 (5-13 ECC) on the season, as the opposing Devils improve to 12-24 (9-7 CACC) overall.
KEY MOMENTS
Game 1
In what was a very low scoring affair, the Dolphins would tack on the only run of the game for both teams in the top of the fourth inning. It was all sparked by a
Isabel Gallo single to right center.
Mariah Carcano would single to shortstop as Gallo advanced to second. Whalen then singled through the left side which led to an RBI as Gallo scored. Neither squad would scratch again, and CSI would go on to win narrowly, 1-0.
Game 2
The Devils came out strong in this one. They tacked on four runs in the bottom of the second inning to give themselves a quick 4-0 lead. Both teams would go runless in the second and third innings. CSI finally got on the board with a two-run top of the fourth. Liz Moore would single to left field and Lalia Aponte singled to center field.
Avery Mochrie then singled through the left side which set up a Carcano single to left field in which Moore scored. After Gallo struck out swinging, CSI closed the inning with a Carreon ground out to shortstop as Aponte scored. The Devils led 4-2. USciences tallied two more runs in the bottom of the fifth as the Dolphins would never be able answer. They fell short to the Devils, 6-2.
