Staten Island, NY | The College of Staten Island faced off against the Mavericks today. The Dolphins split the games against Mercy College. They won game one, 5-4, and fell in game two, 6-5. CSI has now lost three of their last four games. Today's matchup puts the Dolphins at 12-24 (6-16 ECC) on the season, as the opposing Mavericks improve to 11-36 (9-15 ECC) overall.
KEY MOMENTS
Game 1
The Dolphins got things started in the bottom of the second. After Moore singled up the middle, Aponte would walk. This led to an RBI as Moore advanced, and Macpherson scored on a wild pitch. Aponte would get out at second, but Moore would score. The Dolphins took an early 2-0 lead. Both squads would go scoreless throughout the second, third, and fourth innings. Mercy would scratch in the top of the fifth, but CSI would answer behind a Kateridge single to right center that led to a Komuhendo score, 3-1. Mercy would put together a three-run final inning to take a 4-3 lead before the Dolphins regained the lead in the bottom. Acosta doubled to left center and Macpherson singled up the middle as both Carreon and Kateridge scored. The Dolphins won narrowly, 5-4.
Game 2
CSI would tally the first run of the game in the bottom of the second inning behind a Porcaro fly-out to right field as Mochrie scored. The Mavericks would put together a four-run top of the fourth to take a 4-1 advantage. The Dolphins responded as Kateridge singled to left field and Carcano scored. This cut the Mercy led to two. The Mavericks added two more runs in the top of the fifth, 6-2. CSI would host a late rally with three runs in the final inning, but they fell short, 6-5.

CSI tallied five runs, eight hits, and two errors in the game. Kateridge went 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI in the game. Samantha Macpherson was 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Moore went 1-for-3 with one run. Carreon finished with a 1-for-1 game with one run.
Alexis Miramontes,
Nicole Rivera, and
Kelsey Strayer shared the pitching duties for CSI as they only accounted for a single strikeout. Strayer picked up the win (1-4). The Mavericks finished the contest with four runs, eight hits, and two errors.
Game 2
CSI tallied five runs, 11 hits, and three errors in the game. Kateridge doubled with a 4-for-4 game for one run and two RBIs. Acosta was 1-for-4 with one run.
Mariah Carcano was 1-for-2 with two runs.
Anissa Acosta, Jacklyn Kateridge, and
Kelsey Strayer shared the pitching duties for CSI. Acosta picked up the loss (7-9). The Mavericks finished the game with six runs, 11 hits, and three error.
