MEN’S SOCCER 2022 SEASON PREVIEW; OPEN SEASON AT BLOOMSBURG UNIVERSITY FOR A CLASH WITH THE HUSKIES

8/27/2022 9:00:00 AM

Staten Island, NY | The College of Staten Island Men's Soccer team start their 2022 campaign on the road this afternoon when they face the Huskies of Bloomsburg University. Game time is set for a 1:00pm in Bloomsburg, PA at the Steph Pettit Stadium. This will be the Dolphins first matchup ever against the Huskies.

The Dolphins enter this season officially a NCAA Division II Program and now eligible for the East Coast Conference (ECC) playoffs. Former Assistant Coach, Alex Cuba, who is entering his 10th year overall with the program, has been named Head Coach for this season and the foreseeable future. Cuba brings a wealth of experience and should be an easy transition as former Head Coach John Tardy (who will stay on as an assistant) has the up-most confidence in his ability to lead this team this season and in the coming years.

Last season, CSI ended their 2021 campaign with a 3-12-2 overall record and a 1-7-1 ECC record. It was the first time the team was on the field post COVID and featured 20+ freshmen players. This year's roster brings back many of those dynamic freshmen who now have a full year of ECC competition experience under their belt. CSI also brought in number of dynamic freshmen whom the coaching staff excepts to mesh well with the team and contribute right away. The Dolphins will fully embody the team game this year, though, HC Cuba expects big things from, returners Brian Kerilu and Daniel Angulo who are expected to control the middle. In addition, Leandro Angulo and Nicholas Kishenko will take on a bigger role while on and off the field. Despite the Dolphins overall record, they competed in every game last season. You can except more of the same this season and then some, as the team is a little extra hungry now that they can compete in the post season.

See the team in action below and hear what Head Coach Alex Cuba had to say in detail regarding the upcoming season!
