Rockville Centre, NY - The College of Staten Island Men's Soccer Team will play their first conference match of the 2022 season today when they face the Molloy University Lions at noon. The Dolphins have dropped back-to-back games and come into today's match with a record of 1-3. The Lions come in 1-1-3 and despite a pair of ties, they are winless in their last three matches. The Lions and the Dolphins have met just once before in a game won by Molloy, 1-0. It was Danny Muir who registered the game's lone goal in the fortieth minute to give his team the one-goal advantage, and ultimately the win.
The Dolphins were last in action on Wednesday night for a matchup under the lights against Southern Connecticut State University. The Dolphins were able to withstand a great deal of attacking pressure early in the match, but once the Owls broke through with the game's first goal, they cruised to a six-goal victory. Molloy last played on Tuesday in a thrilling 2-2 tie against the Felician University Golden Falcons. Trailing by a pair entering the final eleven minutes, the Lions scored twice to level the score including the equalizer which came with just over three minutes to play.
The Dolphins didn't spend much time on the attack in Wednesday's game, but when CSI has generated scoring chances, it has often been
Steven Adebisi in the middle of the action. His two goals still lead the team and he has certainly had more than one opportunity to add to that total. Despite seeing his team allow six goals in their last game,
Leandro Angulo kept a ball out of his team's net for the second consecutive game on Wednesday night against the Owls. He continues to anchor the CSI defense, and along with fellow captain midfielder
Daniel Angulo, he will look to lead CSI in a bounce back effort in today's game. For the Lions, both Ryan Dobson and Gio Fabiano have found the back of the net twice this season, and backer Adam Lisniewski has tallied three assists from his defensive position. In goal, Nick Conklu has allowed just over one and a half goals per game heading into a matchup with a Dolphins team that has been held without a goal for five straight halves.
