Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

DOLPHINS DROP FOURTH STRAIGHT IN HEARTBREAKING FASHION VS HOLY FAMILY, 2-1

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Men's Soccer Team dropped their fourth straight match in heartbreaking fashion this afternoon as they fell to the Holy Family University Tigers by a score of 2-1.  The Dolphins surrendered the game's first goal in a first half that was dominated by the Tigers, but following the break, an energized CSI attack leveled the score with under ten minutes to play.  However, the Tigers would break the tie with less than two minutes remaining to improve to 2-4 with the one-goal victory.  The Dolphins are now 1-5 following the defeat, but with the goal, CSI ended a three-match scoreless streak.

The Dolphins faced a great deal of pressure early in the match as the Tigers registered the first five shots on goal and earned the first three corner kicks.  The early pressure yielded several quality chances for Holy Family, and among these early opportunities was a Sean Touey goal off a feed from Dakota Taylor.  Despite taking the early lead, the Tigers did not relent on the pressure and threatened to add to their lead several times throughout the remainder of the half.  This, coupled with a Dolphins attack that failed to attempt a shot, resulted in a first-half stat line that greatly favored the Tigers.

Following the intermission, the Dolphins came out energized and were able to sustain a great deal of attacking pressure.  They quickly registered their first three shots on goal and earned a pair of corners to open the half, but they were unable to generate an equalizer.  This changed in the eighty-first minute following a Tigers foul which earned CSI a free kick.  On the ensuing free kick, Daniel Angulo beat Luke Shank for his second goal of the season to even the score at one.  However, the Tigers responded with a goal of their own less than seven minutes later after an incredible save by Amari Thompson led to a rebound and score.

After the first half drastically favored Holy Family, the Dolphins responded with a much stronger second half.  Despite this, the Dolphins were still outshot 17-7 overall and 10-4 in shots on goal.  The game also saw a combined five yellow cards and forty fouls.  Angulo's second goal earned him a share of the team lead, Touey's goal was his first, and Taylor's game-winner was his second.

The Dolphins will next be in action on Saturday when they visit the University of Bridgeport for another non-conference matchup.  Kickoff is at 6 PM.
