Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

MEN'S SOCCER DROPS ONE-GOAL RESULT AGAINST BRIDGEPORT, 1-0

Bridgeport, CT - The College of Staten Island Men's Soccer Team once again failed to pick up their second win last night as they dropped another one-goal result to the University of Bridgeport, 1-0.  The lone score in the match came late in the first half when Lucas Sousa registered his third goal of the season on a penalty kick. This proved to be the game-winner and the Dolphins were handed their fifth straight defeat.   The loss drops the Dolphins to 1-6 on the season and the victory improves the Purple Knights to 4-2-1.

The first half was very evenly matched statistically with the Purple Knights holding just a one-shot advantage, 6-5.  There were eighteen fouls committed in the half, nine by each team, and the most consequential of those earned the Purple Knights the penalty kick that would go on to result in the game's lone goal.  For Sousa, his third goal of the season gives him a share of the team lead and helped the Purple Knights win their third-straight game.

Following a highly competitive first half, the second-half numbers heavily favored the Purple Knights.  Playing with the lead, Bridgeport held the Dolphins to just two second-half shots and tallied eleven shots of their own.  CSI finished the game with seven shots, just two on goal.  The Purple Knights finished with seventeen shots, eight of those on goal.  In net, Amari Thompson made seven saves for the Dolphins, good for his second-highest single-game save total this season.  For Bridgeport goalkeeper Clement Anet, the clean sheet was high second in as many games.

The Dolphins will be back on the pitch this Wednesday when they take on another non-conference opponent in Caldwell University at 3:30 PM.
