GAMEDAY: MEN'S BASKETBALL TAKES ON D'YOUVILLE TO WRAP UP WEEKEND SLATE

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Men's Basketball Team will wrap up a packed weekend slate at The Tank this afternoon when they take on the D'Youville University Saints in the back half of a conference doubleheader at 3:00 PM. The Dolphins come into today's game with a record of 3-10 after losing to Daemen on Friday and are 1-3 against the East Coast Conference. The Saints enter today's game with an identical 3-10 record and a 2-3 mark against the conference. The Dolphins won the only two meetings between the two teams last season decisively by a combined 43 points.

The Dolphins led 7-0 in Friday night's loss to the Wildcats, but they could not recover from a double-digit halftime deficit in the defeat. The Dolphins got as close as two after trailing by as many as 18, but they ultimately saw their comeback bid fall short in a 79-75 loss. D'Youville also played two nights ago against the University of the District of Columbia and suffered a 97-79 loss to the Firebirds.

It was a career night for JJ Chestnut on Friday as he scored a career-high 27 points and played the entire game for the seventh time this season. CSI's leading scorer Messiah Mallory added 13 points, Luis Armas scored 15, and Bryce Waterman scored 12 in the losing effort and the Dolphins shot the ball incredibly well in Friday's game. As a team, CSI shot 53% from the field and 57% from beyond the arc, but the disparity in free-throw attempts and made three-pointers was too much for the Dolphins to overcome. The Saints have two players averaging double-figures on the season led by Willie Kondrat's 16.5 points per game. Luke Thiessen averages 13.5 which is good for second on the team and Kondrat is also the team's leading rebounder with 6 boards per game. The Dolphins come in with a distinct advantage in overall shooting, but the Saints attempt nearly ten more free throws per game entering today's contest.
